I actually saw this without sound first and holy hell the movement is BETTER than the song it's matched to. Seriously, being a dancer myself I can absolutely appreciate the movement, and thats because of the timing
This looks like it's been rotoscoped to me, just an observation though. Not a critique of the point you were making.

Nice OP as expected. Nagamine storyboard demanded fast paced action sequences and that's exactly what we got. Ootsuka's best work in DBS as far as I'm concerned.

What did Takahashi do? I couldn't spot him at all.

The key animators and animation supervisors still worked on the fillers, despite being conservative, except Episode #75.

Two animation supervisors constantly helping out each episodes.

Two chief animation supervisors.

No character designer popping up in episodes.

The scripts are rushed.

These are the signs that the production is in a horrible shape.
That's really sad. Hopefully this is the final arc of the anime and then we can finally have some peace.
It will not be the finial arc. There's absolutely no way that it will.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed it!!

I don't think they're exactly the same sound effects as DBZ, but it's very close... Much closer than the sound effects we were getting until now.

You can mostly notice it when Goku was fighting the guys that wanted to rob him.

But, maybe Yammamuro couldn't handle the schedule either? Maybe he's running away like Toma does.

That's not a rotoscope. It is very much referenced though Yutaka Nakamura is just that good. A rotoscope would not have that stop/start framerate (some movement is on 1's 2's or 3's rotoscopes are consistent), those smears, and that technically unrealistic movement, and body shapes and shadows that shift angles slightly every drawing.

Referenced and rotoscoped are not one in the same.

The OP was great. Shida's cut was very reminiscent of his work in BoG. What's surprising is Yamamuro's touch wasn't overbearing as always. It was so much easier to spot other animators than the previous one. Has he changed himself or have other animators spoken out against him and is that why he doesn't overcorrect them now ? But anyway I hope he becomes invisible again like previously, so that the animators can continue to deviate away from his style.

As for the episode, it was decent. Polished as expected. 2ndKA from A-line and TAP. Small inhouse staff. Especially if you compare it to #47, which had a huge staff but obviously it was more action oriented. I hope they give the next few episodes the same treatment as 51-55 & 59, where the episodes were a bit conservative and staff size was kept comparatively small, so that much of the staff could focus on the action episodes, as we saw with 56,57, 61 etc.

Still, Beerus looks good in black.

I feel like DBS is going to be KyoAni. We don't have any freelancers lately (or after RoF saga). But, we still get to see amazing stuff. Even though it's an Opening.
All of them are inhouse stuff. Lol

It just hit me, that alien guy Goku is fighting in the OP is really just a more buff design of the referee from the universe 6 arc with some minor alterations. It even has a very similar colour scheme.

That's it, people said he looked like Deadpool but there was something else familiar about him.

Did anyone notice something different in the Supreme Kai's world? It has a certain filter or something that makes it look hand drawn. The background looks like DB Kai's.

Ishitani said on twitter that Suzuki Saori also did some animation for the ED. Interesting.

She also said that Watanabe did the scene where Goku flies off at the end and Asuka Nazako did the Buu and Piccolo scene.

Edit : She also stated that Ide was in charge of the previous version, as many had pointed out earlier.

That's Suzuki Sachi who also did good work for the recent Tiger Mask W episodes. It's nice to have her. I hope she'll pop up to do some work for a DBS episode.

I know from a storytelling standpoint the show is subpar, how is the action?

You mean, Tiger Mask W right? It's been pretty good so far. It gets good talented staff who deliver quality work. For the most part, the action is solid and there's also nice character animation at times. I enjoy it.

The action is mostly pretty meh, but there have been a fair few episodes with some pretty decent action sequences, like #38 for example. Most of the unimportant episodes with action typically don't look that great.

I think he's asking about Tiger Mask W.
