There's a fairly well-known mistranslation of Goku and Freeza's Daizenshuu powers where they're listed as 15 and 12 million respectively instead of the actual 150 and 120 million. So, people came up with a workaround to make the 15/12 one make sense with SSs x50 boost by dropping Goku's Base form to 300k. This theory can kind of work if the series ended on Namek but it flat out can't once guys like Vegeta get SS.

It mostly boils down to them relying on the original, black and white manga for evidence, ignoring the full-color release and saying the anime botched what should've been a red aura the various times Goku has one in his fight against Freeza.
