So what do you guys think about the application of the new filter? While i dont mind it, The show would seriously improve if they removed the highlights. Now they look even more out of place than before. props to the Super staff for making the art look less mechanic and a bit more cineatic, but I honestly believe some model sheet upgrades were in order.

I do like how this does remind me of the Ultimate Tenkaichi opening... still, the filter seems slightly heavy handed and needs some tweaking

Since we have a warm up fight coming before the actual tournament and it seems all the GoDs are together for it by the end of the next episode based on the NEP 5 bucks says episode 79 is Karasawa if the warm up fight is 1 episode, if it's 2 then he'll be episode 80. Then we'll probably have a couple episodes of down time while the rest of the team is gathered and they train and Bulma will give birth. Makes me wonder when Tate's next episode will be, maybe he'll do the first episode of the actual tournament.
Also I find it interesting that Karasawa and Higashide didn't do any animation for the opening, I bet they are both 100% focused on the warm up match.

I personally find the filter to be a little obnoxious, though I appreciate the intent, I find it a little bit of an eyesore to look at due to how bright it makes everything seem. However, I think it would be just perfect if it was toned down a little more. As for the line processing, I really like its application so far.

Damn that goku looks fantastic. I also noticed that the nose looks a lot smaller than usual, despite Yamamuro being the supervisor  . And also that annoying "Shine" On the faces has been weirdly absent recently. it shows up but not nearly as often, and i hope it stays that way.
Love this shot too, is my favorite along with Episode #49 Goku :)

Yeah, the line filter is pretty much perfect (a bit of anti aliasing would be nice), though they could probably apply it a bit more to shots that are a bit further out.
The color filter needs some work, I think they should drop the saturation a bit and maybe up the grain a tiny bit.

EDIT: Here's a comparison I just whipped up, original on top, my edit on bottom.

It's not perfect obviously, the grain looks a bit odd for example, but I only made minor changes to the saturation and brightness and I think it shows how close the filter is to being good, but it's just not quite there.

The last 3 seconds remind me a lot of SSJ Goku vs Freeza Final Form part in DB Kai Opening 2.
Animation corner doesn't say Ken or Nagamine as storyboard artist worked there. Thoughts?

Interesting. I thought One Piece was a well thought production and it never had problems with the schedule. When did it that happened?
I hope he helps us too then. We can't be that far from normality.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I am not the biggest fan of it. Sometimes it looks great, sometimes it's pretty bad, depending on the scenery/lighting. However, when it works it certainly looks better than what he had before. After the staff gets more used to it and they get to experience with it more I think it will solve most problems I can find with it.
I am not happy that we had to resort to it in the first place, but given the mess that is Super's production, every solution to help is welcomed.

Looks so much better. It need some tweaks, but it is an improvement. The thicker lineart really makes a difference too.

Looking at it again I'm pretty positive there is no filter, other than the line filter, on most, if any, of the Earth scenes.

There's no bloom, grain or color modification on the Earth scenes, they just look like normal Super.

Your right the filter isn't as prevalent during scenes on Earth, but I can still see a tinge of it.

Doesn't SSB have a different sound effect than super Saiyan though ?

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Yup, the super saiyan blue sounds different, so this comparison is not accurate

Great op.
Mediocre episode.
Interesting choice of aesthetics.

They try something new with the colors for some reason. I can't say I love it but my feelings might change in the future.
I liked how Goku's aura had some color inside instead of been transparent.

In general nothing changed from last week's animation but I can safely say that the color adjustments hide the imperfections.
Also I couldn't spot big off model moments, which for me is an A+.
Good job Toei animation.
The action was nothing crazy but well animated and looked good. Weird how the new opening colors look so dark in my monitor (did anyone had the same issue?).....Oh well

The first time I saw the filter, I thought there was something wrong with my glasses.

It could totally be someone else just ignoring the shading guide though, but the stiffness really makes me think Shimanuki.
If you only mean that one cut, then I could get on board with that guess maybe, but for the stuff after it within the same sequence, I don't think it's him.

Shimanuki doesn't seem like the kinda person to do stuff like this, and the whole thing seems so entwined compared to the other cuts that are very different people.

It's a tough one. Either way, we got the best Goku of the entire OP. Just throwing that out there.
I can't speak for ArchedThunder, but just that one cut is what I meant by my earlier guess for Shimanuki, ending with the close-up of Goku I put in my post. That cut that comes after it and uses all those cool smear effects defintiely seems to have been done by somebody else.

Anybody else feel like the filter makes it easier for bad shots to go unnoticed?
I mean, in old Z, you can spot bad shots, but they look pretty normal. However, in Super, they usually pop out and look awful.
This episode, thanks to the filter, makes bad shots pass my eye. I notice them, but they never bug me like they used to.
Does anyone else feel like this, or am I just crazy?
