Episode 5 was corrected on Blu-ray so if you missed the initial airing, you may have only seen the 'fixed' version.

Here are some bad keys from the original:

In terms of motion, much of it was shoddily done. Very poor, stiff movement that was only highlighted further by lacking character art. I actually covered the episode in a video recently. If you want an example of bad movement, head to 1:35. It's very poor repeated animation. Nothing worthwhile there, at all.
Interesting, didn't know you had a channel. I'll have to check that out, thank you very much! Also, I must have seen the fixed version, I got into Super quite late, so whatever is on Crunchyroll is what version I have seen. Now that I do see these though, it looks outsourced almost. The only thing I can really see that even looks remotely like something I've seen prior is the 3rd shot, but it also looks like the Cell Games Reenactment Goku Head, an observation I made to myself earlier when reading through the animation catalogue for an animator. That makes me lean towards it being, from looking through the catalogue, being the animator Yoshitaka Yashima. Next to that, the repetition is truly terrible. While don't do 2D animation or claim to know much at all about ir, I more than dabble in 3D animation software such as Maya and Blender. It looks like they simply took the foreground plane animation, looped it, and had it moving right slightly to give the illusion of different animation, something that is done to artificially extend a fight commonly in 3D. I'm not sure if this is done as much in 2D, but look no further than shows like Reboot to find the same kind of problem. If you look hard enough, you can tell most running, standing, and talking animations in that show are recycled with slight editing to the pose, so as to make it look brand new. All things considered, if any of the third-party animators of Super also work in 3D, I'd be willing to put money down on them having to do something with it. Anyway, I've rambled for far too long on that. Thank you for your help!

Of course that's what he's doing, but if you hide your company's issues by calling professional animators with an extensive history in the industry 'newbies', you are not 'meaning well'.

"Meaning well" isn't the phrase I'd use, but I don't think he was being malicious. Rather, I think it's better to assume that he was just covering the production's ass.

Jinzoningen MULE might be right perhaps me saying meaning well might have been the wrong phrase to use. I think he was banking on people not to research it was pretty obvious that most people didn't know what they were taking about so they wouldn't go that deep into researching animators that worked on that episode and take what he said on face value obviously people like yourself know what he said was hogwash and know what's really going on but you guys were few and fair between during the craze. It's not the best statement in the world sure but I don't think he itended any disrespect or ill toward to the animators because the statement in and of itself is too vague like there may have been one or two animators that could be classed as newb that worked on it. Could that have been possible?

Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely just an off-hand PR comment, but that doesn't mean I don't get to pick at it. It's misinformation that moves the blame onto the very people working their asses off as a consequence of the companies he's protecting. I understand the reasons perfectly, but that doesn't excuse it.

I feel like you're trying to make excuses for it, and that doesn't sit well with me, at all. Yes, he's doing his job, but it's a very shitty way of going about things.

It's no different to Funi pretending the surveys for the Blu-rays dictated 16:9, when it reality the surveys concluded 4:3, but were ignored as 16:9 sold better in the past. It's just shady PR.

Fair enough and you're right it looks like I am trying to make excuses for Toei more than they deserve too lol. Idk but maybe it was because it seemed fine to me and I was just a bit surprised at how much attention you gave that statement. Which I guess in hindsight isn't surprising since you're a huge follwer of these animators.

I wouldn't have given it much attention had it not been a huge source of misinformation. The number of times I've had to correct that statement has been overwhelming, so I put a lot of focus on it in the video. Your average person doesn't care enough to look into animators' history, so they take PR statements like that as a blanket truth. It makes life very hard for people like me who want to explain the reality of these situations to other people.

I really hope he apologized for throwing Tate under the bus. Tate took one for the team. So many people looked for who "animated" the episode. Tate's name was all over the Internet. People thought he is a bad newbie.

What does this mean? I looked it up, are you referring to the Anime Awards, the Magazine, or something else entirely?

NewType is a monthly magazine that contains information about upcoming episodes - episode titles, summaries, and the thing that most people care about this thread: staff details. We get to know in advance who will write, direct, storyboard, and supervise the next month's worth of episodes.

It's not always 100% correct, but it's nice to have a rough guide!

So it's basically like TV Guide but actually useful, gotcha.

Hey, i've just realized that next week episode (78) was potentially finished three weeks ago, according to some shots (w/ all the gods) from episode 78 which were used in the first trailer of the arc.

It doesn't mean that, it just means the shots of the GoDs were finished that long ago.
It's still good to know that they had something presentable that far in advance though, even if it was just stills.

It only means those scenes were ready by that time, we don't really know when they finished the episode.
But we can assume they only had 2 episodes ready by that because there aren't any scenes coming from a third episode, unless something more important is going to happen so they decided to only show scenes of the first two episodes.

There's a couple reasons they wouldn't show anything from the third episode, first off it seems like it will be an action episode so keep that in mind.
They might not have wanted to mix show action and opening action, especially if that episode's action isn't the best.
They might not have had anything polished up yet.
They might not have had any action cuts finished enough to show and nothing else was worth putting in there.
Or they might have simply had everything they wanted to show for the small amount of time they had to fill in the PV.

We may never know... unless 79 looks like garbage, then we'll probably know why.

I would hope the episode animation looks good considering how good the opening looks. Jut saying I'd prefer a simple opening like the old DB/Z openings, without all the action, and save time for the actual episodes to look that good.
