Man, now I'm sad Yamcha isn't fighting. Yamcha fighting these flea-bags and using his Wolf Fang Fist on them would have been amazing. Why didn't the Toei writers think of this? Yamcha beating around some flea-ridden mutts would have been amazing.
Do you have something against dogs/wolves? This is getting ridiculous man

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Yeah lets be real here.

Three of the strongest fighters in the U7 team come from a race of monkey men that were mostly grunts and low ranking, unnote-worthy elites solders in Frieza's army. Piccolo is a giant green slug man. Majin Buu is basically a sentient blob of chewing gum. #17 and #18 are cyborgs created on a back water planet called earth. The rest of the team is made up of earthlings. The God of destruction for U7 is an anorexic cat man and his obese brother is the one for U6.

Yet some how you draw the line at anthropomorphic canidae? Now you dont have to like them or their design but you cannot say that they should be weak and could never be a match for Buu based solely on their apprentice, especially when one of the biggest themes of DB is never judge our opponent by how they look. They are considered some of the strongest beings in their universe, they have likely been through battle and hardships that rival those of the U7 team's.

Well, I can't say that exactly... I mean, I would have no problem with "Goku and Vegeta show" if their characters were better portrayed in Super, cause they feel like parodies of themselves in Z and that makes them extremely annoying to support as main characters.

Yeah, It would be nice! But the problem is Toriyama not Toei, he despises Yamcha, so much to prefer Roshi over him, contradicting his character final development in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, saying he would leave things to the new generation.

Whats your problem with the characters? :eh: these "flea bags" are the strongest fighters in their universe while yamcha is practically fodder.

Alos Lets not forget that the strongest being in the multiverse sounds and looks like a pokemon yet would wreck all of reality in an instant.

How is that development, exactly? Thats throwing a character away! Imagine if Gohan and Piccolo did that with Goten and Trunks. The fandom would flip!

Also seeing as how Yamcha has less achievements than roshi and is a joke in the fandom, who in every arc he is in gets jobbed HARD.

I see why Toriyama wouldn't want to use him and go with someone he and majority of the fandom actually respect as a character.

People are quick to talk bad about Yamcha but Kami himself considered him a brilliant fighter.

Yamcha's an awesome character who deserves more spotlight. He should have been picked, not Roshi.

Definitely. I don't understand why this has happened twice now. I know Yamcha has stopped martial arts and probably weakened but I doubt Roshi is training either.

Is that hard to edit your own posts, mate? Again, you don't need to quote the whole thing if you're going only to answer one part, just erase/edit it to avoid derrailing the thread.

Now, about your post: It's was great development, Kamesennin is a 300 years old legendary martial arts master, he trained Goku and Krillin to the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai and signed up for the same competition to avoid their students becoming arrogant little brats that could think no one would beat them if they had won this tournament, he wanted to teach them that the world is big you can always have people stronger than you. By the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai he felt like there were a new generation of fighters coming up that no longer need his assist, he was surpassed, so he decided to leave with them. Roshi was not tossed aside from the main cast, ignoring his perverted gags, he still the wise old master had Goku, Krillin, Yamcha as his former students. It was amazing to see him again teaching Goku the Mafuba technique (even being a half assed scene). The point is that we can still have Roshi being useful without a forced come back to the fighting. It's nonsense to contradict his development just because the author feel like he's "cooler" than Yamcha nowadays.

Exactly. Yamcha may have gotten weaker over the years, due to retiring from martial arts (for the most part), but he's not an incompetent fighter by any means. Heck, I think Yamcha should have gone with Goku and Krillin to get the Paradise Grass.

Yeah, like I love me some Roshi, but I really wish Yamcha was in this squad. Sucks that he gets shafted again.

I've decided that if they're really splitting up Gokû and Vegeta for good that I'll at least hope that Gokû gets a new rival who he'll have good chemistry with.

Hit was a little too stoic for me, but I guess I could deal with him. I dunno. I just want Gokû to have a rival who'll make him happy.

Hit would have been a good candidate if they had bothered to give him a personality. They had a nice battle dynamic, though; Enormous, raw ki power vs. skillful use of special abilities. Unfortunately, we can pretty much assume that his role as a major character is over.

Because Yamcha's become a big joke, people cant get over his loses (not only in fighting, but lost his gal too), and I feel like Roshi's more popular than Yamcha anyways.

That's the fault of the show's writing. Putting in Yamcha and NOT treating him as a fucking joke again would be the perfect way to help improve the perception of him, similar to what DC comics did to improve the public perception of Aquaman, but Toriyama obviously isn't interested in doing that and that's a damn shame. Also since Yamcha is far stronger than Roshi, it just makes no damn sense.

Yamcha was always a joke, I can't imagine where people get the conception that he was ever a serious protagonist.

You know this has been debated and disproved multiple times and it's just one of those arguments I'm sick of having. He was only taken as a joke just as much as the rest of the cast was. Even at the time he was killed by a saibaman at the time it was taken 100% seriously.
