A different question regarding Gohan and Kamehameha
When is Gohan *first* seen using the Kamehameha? Does he use the move at all before the Cell Games?
And just for the heck of it: does he (or anyone?) ever use Masenko again *after* the Cell Games? (It kind of looks like Pan was doing the hand motions for it while annoying Vegeta-Bebi after he knocked Uub around, but who the heck knows?)
Thanks in advance!

When he fires an even bigger Kamehameha back at Cell, when Cell gets ticked and tries to destroy the Earth, along with Gohan.Ozma15 wrote:When is Gohan *first* seen using the Kamehameha? Does he use the move at all before the Cell Games?
I don't remember anyone ever using the Masenko apart from Gohan. And even then, he only used it once during the Saiya-jin Arc.And just for the heck of it: does he (or anyone?) ever use Masenko again *after* the Cell Games?
It seems like that the only time Goku had time to learn Gohan Kamehameha was during the ROSAT, for soem odd reason.
I can add that I believe that the Masenko beam was incomplete, wasting too much energy. The first time he uses it against Nappa he gets exhausted.
The Kamehameha wave is more concentrated and controlled, making it a more efficient attack.

Then explain why he shouted "Kamehameha!" while trying to keep Vegeta's attention during the Saiyan-arc. Though, that's propably just Toei screwing up, like usual. And for the record, I saw that in the japanese version on the Season 1-set.Godo wrote:It seems like that the only time Goku had time to learn Gohan Kamehameha was during the ROSAT, for soem odd reason.

He actually did? Well, snap, there's something the Ocean version got right. it was obviously the Masenko, but maybe Gohan was just paying tribute to his father by announcing his main attack name? The earliest we're aware of Gohan using the actual attack is off-screen in the RoSaT when Goku tells him he wants him to launch 10 Kamehame-Has. That's as far as I know.Vegard Aune wrote:Then explain why he shouted "Kamehameha!" while trying to keep Vegeta's attention during the Saiyan-arc. I almost mentioned that in my post... XD I figure Gohan got smacked in the head at some point and forgot what he was doing.Vegard Aune wrote: Then explain why he shouted "Kamehameha!" while trying to keep Vegeta's attention during the Saiyan-arc. That wasn't in the manga. The only one who helped Gohan against Cell in the manga was Vegeta. The Kamehameha-duel also took only like, 5 pages rather than an entire episode.Xenomorph wrote:Whilst gohan is matching Cell's mega Kamehameha wave, Piccolo actuallly fires a Masenko (Atleast thats what he call out in the anime) at Cell, to weaken him.

Doesn't Future Trunks use Masenkou in one of the movies or something? I don't think it's a movie I've seen, but I definitely remember hearing about him using Masenkou at some point.Ozma15 wrote:And just for the heck of it: does he (or anyone?) ever use Masenko again *after* the Cell Games? Movie 8 against Broli, at the same time as Gohan.TripleRach wrote:Doesn't Future Trunks use Masenkou in one of the movies or something? Yep. DBZ movie 8. Taking the image from Meri's Top 5 Stolen Attacks list.TripleRach wrote:Doesn't Future Trunks use Masenkou in one of the movies or something? I don't think it's a movie I've seen, but I definitely remember hearing about him using Masenkou at some point.

Regarding Gohan in this scene:

... he definitely says aloud "Kamehameha" in both the original Japanese version and the original syndication run of FUNimation's dub. I remember that being a pretty big hub-bub back then. I don't seem to have that volume in Japanese, but the panel it represents in the manga in the Viz release doesn't have any speech bubbles to it... just an "oom" sound effect (Viz DBZ 043; JP DB 237).

Are you talking about this specific blast?Xenomorph wrote:Whilst gohan is matching Cell's mega Kamehameha wave, Piccolo actuallly fires a Masenko (Atleast thats what he call out in the anime) at Cell, to weaken him.

If so, Piccolo just yells out, "Kurai...!" ("Take this!") during that particular attack. It... "sorta"... looks like a Masenko, except when he pulls his hands back behind his head, it's not exactly the same type of motion that Gohan traditionally uses. But this one from later in the episode looks a lot more like the regular Masenko, except he doesn't bring his hands up above/behind his head:

This post brought to you by a burning desire not to continue working on a video, even though it's more important than putting up random screen shots.

I think I remember seeing it once during the Vegetto versus Majin Boo fight. It's when Boo sends out his own version of kamekaze ghosts and they fire Kamehame-ha beams that chase Vegetto around. Then, when Vegetto's in some sort of valley thing, three kamekaze ghosts appear and fire what looks like a Masenko (It's a yellow beam with purple edges.). They even do the proper hand motions; they put both of their hands on their forehead (one hand over the other) and fire the attack. I think that qualifies as a Masenko. I think that scene was filler, but whatever.Ozma15 wrote:And just for the heck of it: does he (or anyone?) ever use Masenko again *after* the Cell Games?
The dubbed version of that scene says that the beam they fired was a Gatlic Gun, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Seeing as how Boo had just absorbed Gohan, it would make more sense for Boo to be using one of his attacks instead of Vegeta's.
All of this is just me going off of memory though, so somebody might want to check the Japanese version of the episode to see if it's right.

Nope. Piccolo extended his arms in the air, charged ki into them, and then extended both hands forwards, but not one on top of the other, and fired a giant ki blast. The closest thing Piccolo does that resembles a Masenko is when he fires that ki blast that follows you around, and his final attack against Goku. But it's clear he gripped his wrist. Not put one hand behind the other.Godo wrote:Didn't he use it against Goku in the 23rd Budokai, when Goku countered it with a Super Kamehameha?Tyro wrote:A note in the manga says it's Piccolo's signature move, even though we've never seen him use it.

There is a movie called "the history of trunks" or some thin.....There Gohan teaches Trunks the Masenko but, i dont remember Trunks actually using it....TripleRach wrote:Doesn't Future Trunks use Masenkou in one of the movies or something? I believe that was the Bakurikimaha, to which I think the Masenko is 'related', I'm not exactly sure though.Tyro wrote:Nope. But what the hell? How could it be his signature move then?Randio wrote:I believe that was the Bakurikimaha, to which I think the Masenko is 'related', I'm not exactly sure though.Tyro wrote:Nope.
