Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
Both Ishikawa and Tsuji are also on today's episode, so it might be fine.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
I think Kitano would handle the first half and Ishikawa the second. I do expect a lot of Tsuji correction in the first half. At Least Hopefully, because I am not a fan of Kitano's style.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
Anyone have a shots/animations of any Kitano's good work in his career?
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.

Can't believe I am just noticing it now, but there are new sound effects. For me these are definitely better than the older ones.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
I posted this on Twitter earlier (I swear 90% of my observations go there these days. Sorry, thread!), but I thought it might be an interesting talking point, here.
I was watching episode 7 since Bang Zoom's version just aired, and it really stuck out to me how much Shida's style shines through in places, despite only storyboarding it. His board must have been incredibly detailed in places since it seems like key animators outright copied his shading style, and even an eye shape in one shot.

For reference, some actual Shida work that resembles some of the shots:

Very cool to see animators adapting the storyboard so closely. Would love to see it! I don't know if I've ever seen a Shida storyboard.

Wasn't Shida's episode #2 storyboard released to the public at some point? At least bits and pieces of it, I'm sure I remember something of the sort.

You're right. I totally forgot it was in the Super Start Guide:Doctor. wrote:Wasn't Shida's episode #2 storyboard released to the public at some point? At least bits and pieces of it, I'm sure I remember something of the sort.

I don't know how detailed storyboards tend to be, but I do recall that Yamamuro's ResF storyboard had incredible detail put into it, in contrast to this one, despite the blandness of it.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
Shida's storyboards are pretty awesome and I'd love to see him storyboard for Super again, but honestly as of right now if he is to spend time on Super I'd rather that time be spent animating.
I think it'd be pretty awesome if Shida storyboarded an episode and provided some animation for it as well.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
Yeah, Yamamuro's storyboard was like a manga in spots. Back to Shida #7, I suspect the close-ups were detailed, which is why those traits are generally only found in those kinda shots. I dunno, I'm just speculating, but it's weird to see such clear-cut Shida traits, so I'm assuming I'm right.Doctor. wrote:I don't know how detailed storyboards tend to be, but I do recall that Yamamuro's ResF storyboard had incredible detail put into it, in contrast to this one, despite the blandness of it.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
Outside of a few dumpy shots from Kitano that was a nicely polished episode. It wasn't anything special, but the bit of action at the end was nice.
The NEP didn't really show much action... but I did spot a Gohan shot from Tate that looked really polished. I hope it being light on action isn't a sign that the episode will be too, or that the action looked to bad to show.
EDIT: Holy shit, no 2nd key animators? And Yokoyama did actual animation this time?

Was the bit in the end Higashide? I think so

Episode 78
Animation supervisor
Kitano Yukihiro Ishikawa Osamu
Key animator
Kitano Yukihiro Ishikawa Osamu Higashide Futoshi Kato Yoshitaka Takamura Kaoru Yagi Genki Nagaki Tatsuhiro Tsuji Miyako Yokoyama Miyuki Sugawara Rieko A-Line TAP

Great episode. Very much just Tsuji going ham until the second half where we got a good look at Ishikawa. His style's changed a little in these past few episodes. I kinda dig it. Ears are smaller and noses are more pronounced.
Next week looks like some very polished Tate. I'm excited! Looking at the preview again, it looks like Ide has corrected some stuff from him.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
I like the direction/storyboarding this episode. It wasn't too crazy amazing, but there were a handful of multi-plane moving shots while characters were just standing there, always a nice way to make a static scene look nicer.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
The NEP for 65 had pretty much no animation but there was a ton in the actual episode.ArchedThunder wrote:Outside of a few dumpy shots from Kitano that was a nicely polished episode. It wasn't anything special, but the bit of action at the end was nice.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
This probably Kitano's most polished episode so far. The NEP certainly had some Tate characteristics in the facial expression but didn't reveal much in the action side. Hope that means they're keeping the best part for when the episode airs and action isn't actually too light in the episode itself.

The polish didn't come from Kitano, most of his stuff that made it into the episode uncorrected by Tsuji had some dumpiness to it.Lord Beerus wrote:This probably Kitano's most polished episode so far. I would like to see Ide Takeo as an animator in DBS.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 77
I have a strong feeling it's just a case of the usual 2nd KA suspects being given KA credit due to the number of cuts they corrected. I believe One Piece does this, too.ArchedThunder wrote:Holy shit, no 2nd key animators? And Yokoyama did actual animation this time?

Should have phrased myself better. I meant to say that, from Kitano's perspective and what he's provided for the show up until this point, his contributions in this episode was looked alright. A little dumpy, as you put it, but I found it very serviceable.ArchedThunder wrote:The polish didn't come from Kitano, most of his stuff that made it into the episode uncorrected by Tsuji had some dumpiness to it.Lord Beerus wrote:This probably Kitano's most polished episode so far.
