15 pound to spend

Post by Daniel » Thu Jun 28, 2007 2:05 am

Because I have just got into DragonBall I have decided to buy some merchandise. I already have brought a DVD and I now have 15 pound to spend. I am using ebay to buy but it's way to expensive. One figure of Freezer is going for a penny but 4.50 postage and packaging. So, I was wondering if you can recommend any good cheap Ebay stores or if you are selling on ebay and going cheap please link me.

May I suggest the manga? It's not too terribly expensive (either in the UK or the US), plus you get all of the story.

Later.

Not Dragonball related... but looks pretty awesome.

The Physics Of Super Heroes

Yes, ladies and gentlemen... you heard right. 'The Physics Of Super Heroes'. If we study this, then the 'can Goku travel at the speed of light' debate can finally be ended (which is something I tried to settle in another thread... but it didn't go very well :P ).

Not sure if you're interested in music, but I just put up a couple of DBZ CDs on eBay:

Dragonball Z Hit Collection 8

Dragonball Z "Never Ending Story" 2 CD Set

Since I have no idea how pounds convert to dollars, I'm not sure if they fall within the price range of 15 pounds....and the shipping would be slightly more expensive since you live in the UK (but not much, really, probably just a dollar or two). But the first CD has some hilarious songs on it, and the 2 CD set has a lot of great music.

Dollars was about double pounds last time I checked

Man at first I thought this was about you being able to binge on your diet...it's funny how words can look sometimes. If you are going to spend some money you might want to get something nice. I don't know how much you can get for that much but I hope you find somthing good for that much. I'm not British or anything so I can't tell you what I think might be good.

I would recommend the first three books of the Dragon Ball (not Z) manga.

At a penny shy of a fiver, they're decently priced and they'll get you into the story from the very start. It's fun and addictive collecting them.

On the other hand you could probably find a copy of the Budokai 3 PS2 game for around 15 quid if you go pre-owned.

I suggest that if you are going to buy the manga, buy the American imports rather than the UK version of Dragon Ball.
The UK version is made from cheaper material, the spines get damaged easily and pages are either faded, or not aligned properly and don’t get me started on the pages where the ink has rubbed off on another page.
Ironically, it’s printed like that so it can be sold cheap, but you can import the American version for less.

If you want to buy figures, especially from eBay, be careful. Sellers always make their products look a hell of a lot better than what you get in the end.
Hell, I almost spent six pounds on one gashapon but then I remembered they’re usually cheaply made, look god awful in reality, and I could get them for 2 pounds. (of course using those scam filled gashapon machines) *ahem*

Even with the stuff that should really be made with quality.

21 pounds for a Megahouse (Awesome) 18 model?
I'm in!

Whoot! Look how awesome it is.

Image
…what? What happened to the beautiful Jūhachi-gō in the picture? and look how small it is. It just doesn’t compare to the Megahouse Bellemere.

So just be careful what you waste your money on.

Personally, I say save up a little more and buy four volumes of the English language manga. It’s the truest piece of Dragon Ball merchandise you’re going to get, well the Japanese version is but this is just as good.

The best thing to buy is Budokai 3!

There's some sweet deals on video games out there, under £15. I think Sailorspazz's music CDs are great, too.

EDIT: Does anybody think these are a good deal? I WANT 'EM!

Well to begin with, why not simply buy the content? CD Universe has some good prices for the DVD's as well as having fairly cheap shipping cost.

If you've got into it why not get some manga? I assuming you're British in which case go to WHsmith's they have 3 for 2 on all books. So you could get 3 DB manga for £10. DBZ 1 and 2 are just out I think.

I've bought from CD Universe twice and got stuck with import tax both times. I don't know whether this is due to the fact that they use FedEx, or maybe I've just got bad luck.

Are these versions of the manga edited, just like Viz's releases?

Looking at the fact the interiors have the original numbers which include DBZ. The Dragon Ball seems to be first edition content,
