A different question regarding Gohan and Kamehameha

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Is it truly so had to believe that Gohan developed his own signature attack? Even the "Ma" makes sense: he was taught by Piccolo. ^_^;;

I just go with the idea it was a basic version of a variety of attacks Piccolo is seen using, so while he never used it up front, it was the basis for many of his other attacks.

Also, he does infact us it in the Manga. Against final transformation Freeza when they attack him in a group, before Vegeta intervenes and saves Gohan.

"*The "Demon Flash"-Piccolo's signature move!"

That's stated right under Gohan's picture when he uses the Masenko for the first time, against Nappa. Now could someone tell me if that was Akira Toriyama that made that little note there? It would most likely have to be because I doubt the editors would say something about a move never used in the series before. That's enough for me to believe Piccolo had the technique developed, but just never used it before.

Duo, you never cease to amaze. I would have never noticed that had you not mentioned it. Then again I don't really have an eye for art detail when used in techniques.

There's no footnote or anything like that in the Japanese volume, no. Maybe the Viz translator wanted to show its connection to Piccolo...or maybe because of the name, they thought it really was his signature move.
