It's at the end when they change the story to have Gohan sympathise with Wheelo and help him out, then going to Shenron to wish the guy a body. Some of the actors are professional voice actors I think. I like Dragon Ball Z Abridged, but its hardly the masterpiece people say it is.

Opinions man, opinions I consider the Cell arc to be better than it was in the original, which isn't that hard. I enjoy LittleKubiroh , Takahata101 , Lapinator, Masakox, who ever voiced Coola, Gero, Gero, Chris Zito, Kaiser Neko, Megami33 and AntfishABED wrote:Good on ya, but the show is still utter garbage. As for most of the points people say against TFS, all I can really say is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c
But there's one point in particular that REALLY grinds my gears though:

No. This is entirely false dude. NO. At the beginning this may have been true, but nowadays this is simply WRONG. Seriously, Chris Sabat has even said that if anything ever happened to him he'd want Lani to voice Vegeta. They are pretty much professionals at this point, and most of the characters don't even have "silly voices". Most are interpretations of different dub voices.ABED wrote: It's clear the "acting" is done by amateurs doing silly voices

Re: Things that grind your gears
And yet, I am not dissuaded from this at all. Some of the voices are somewhat better imitations of the FUNi cast, but they are still silly voices. So no, it's not entirely false. I've heard the voices for Kuririn, Gohan, and Goku and they are SOOOOO bad because they are clearly a couple of dudes making silly imitation voices. I've heard Vegeta on TFS and it's a bad Sabat imitation, I don't care what Sabat says. He's probably the guy that signed off on Josh Martin voicing Buu. These aren't interpretations of dub voices, they are silly imitations. That's okay if it's a parody. Fans of TFS grind my gears because they never seem to see the show for what it is. They don't seem to see it as just an amateur parody.No. This is entirely false dude. NO. At the beginning this may have been true, but nowadays this is simply WRONG. It's things like this that gets to me. Just stop! It's not the Cell arc, it's a parody. It's not another version of the story. It's like fans have taken the "Abridged" part way too literally to the point where they do think it's DB just shortened.I consider the Cell arc to be better than it was in the original, which isn't that hard.

Re: Things that grind your gears
When people say Goku 100% earned all the power he has while Superman's genetics are what let him be so powerful. While Goku's power is somewhat attributed to his training ethic, let's not kid ourselves: make Goku a human or Namekian under all the same regiments he undergoes throughout the various DB series and he'll never get within spitting distance of his Super Saiyan Namek self. So stop pretending Goku's Saiyan genetics aren't a massive factor in his great power too.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

By the same token, give him the same genetics but not the same drive and he's moderately stronger than most humans. Superman can sit on his ass watching TV and the sun will give him superpowers. That's what you are missing. No one said his genetics aren't a big factor, you're creating a strawman argument.ekrolo2 wrote:When people say Goku 100% earned all the power he has while Superman's genetics are what let him be so powerful. Re: Things that grind your gears
I've gotten into more than a few arguments feverishly defending the whole genetics angle, it's hardly me exaggerating things. Superman's powers being beholden to his genetics is bad but flip that over to Goku and suddenly it doesn't apply when it is very true. If the DB series had Namekian's and Earthling's attain similar levels of strength I wouldn't draw attention to this but a vast majority of Goku's power comes from him winning a genetic lottery.ABED wrote:By the same token, give him the same genetics but not the same drive and he's moderately stronger than most humans. I do think you are grossly exaggerating the arguments. Sure, Saiyans do have a genetic advantage, but Goku and Vegeta put the work in. They seek out masters, they push themselves, find creative ways to train. It's like steroids, you can't just take them and expect muscle growth. You have to put in work.

Take any logical conclusion, gohan got two shotted by berrus but SS2 Vegeta fared better, still some say ultimate gohan was stronger there as we haven't seen Vegeta and gohan fight..ABED wrote:For instance?Ki Breaker wrote:Discussing with people who refuse to acknowledge common sense and demand proof of everything obvious..

People trying to justify bad writing with "thats just how shonen is"
Re: Things that grind your gears
Such a self-ironic comment coming from a Dragon Ball fan. Not that it is rare to make a self-ironic comment.People trying to justify bad writing with "thats just how shonen is"
It has nothing to do with "trying". It is how shonen is. It is how all classic "good vs evil with the power of positive overcoming everything" works. That is no bad writing. It is a symbol for how in the end the worst will ultimately lose because it is not what is supposed to happen and that together everyone can be stronger or that fighting for something that someone really and with the content of their heart loves, is what things are worth to do. And Dragon Ball always was like that. Saying it was not is like reading the manga blind-folded because every single important scene can ultímately be tracked back to those roots. Also using the word "good writing" for something like Dragon Ball in general is hilarious enough. It is not the fault of the shonen Friendship and Love trope.

Re: Things that grind your gears
I never said Goku and Vegeta don't train for it, but to ignore like their genetics aren't a massive part in that equation is a blatant lie. Especially when you get into stuff like Zenkai which is just healing after grievous injury and powering up from it to varying degrees because of Saiyan biology, not because of any hard work or training. Goku's body gets wrecked while Ginyu is in it and he jumps from 90k to at least 3 million just by healing, there's no hard work there: its all genetic advantages.ABED wrote:I do think you are grossly exaggerating the arguments. Plus, it also reeks of the old "this character blows because he's not like this other character I like!" Superman's shtick isn't about self-improvement and his personality is nothing like Goku's and yet people treat him as inferior to Goku by judging him on Goku's standards that don't apply to him. That's like me saying Krillin sucks because his parents weren't gunned down in an alley.

It's still incredibly impressive that he managed to become stronger than freaks of nature such as Freeza, Cell and Boo whilst being a low-class from a relatively weak race himself. In Part 1, you could look at Goku as the prodigy kid. In Part 2, you look at Goku as the underdog that overcomes all odds. I guess that's why I much prefer part 2 to part 1.ekrolo2 wrote:When people say Goku 100% earned all the power he has while Superman's genetics are what let him be so powerful. Still, take away his Saiyan genetics and he isn't overcoming jack or shit. Half the reason he and Vegeta even live long enough to survive in Freeza's general vicinity is because of Zenkai which have nothing to do with hard work or training.Doctor. wrote:It's still incredibly impressive that he managed to become stronger than freaks of nature such as Freeza, Cell and Boo whilst being a low-class from a relatively weak race himself.
