Sodhi wrote:So looks like next week will definitely be a Wanpack episode. It will be interesting to see how manabe works with Wanpack.
His art is rather polished compared to his last 2 episodes (I think this is him anyways).
Reminds me a lot of his art in Vegeta VS Black in episode 63, the nose especially.
Tsuji is probably going to carry half of the episode I bet.
The art here reminds me of Higashide+Wanpack
It might be Highashide, I know some people think it's Manabe, since he does appear to be the supervisor for next episode.
EDIT: I personally think its Manabe.

I'm pretty sure it's Manabe, ear and head shape are a match and the eyebrows and nose are similar to eyebrows and noses that he's drawn in the past.
I would agree but the eyes look different than when Manabe draws them (Triangles that in the middle "sometimes" do a small carve). Also if it's Manabe then it's a little bit unpolished compare to what he usually provided with less time.
Ultimate Gohan's shot in the end has the eyes and ears of Manabe.
The new new filter removes some details and lines and makes it hard. Pre-filter, Higashide would be pretty easy to spot

Manabe's never supervised an episode with less time than this before and it looks more polished than his work in 75 and 69 to me.
I don't know how you can judge his eyes when they're closed...

I compare him with shots from past episodes.
Wait Manabe has the same time now that he had back in fnf? Omg he did 75......Wait why is he working again so soon? Weird......it feels like they are overusing some animators now.........probably so they can leave them alone to work on the tournament of power later.
Its 100% Manabe to me.
It's so much not Higashide to me, i can't believe why you all think it's him. The ears are not him, the nose is not him, the mouth is not him, the shading is not him.
I may be wrong, but i don't see any Higashide trait in that shot.

They're mixing supervisors with little time since their last episode with supervisors that have had more time since their last episode for some reason, for instance in 79 it was 5 weeks since Ono's last episode (which I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the reason the staff size was large) and 8 weeks for Tate. As I said before I'm hoping the reason that Manabe provided no animation for 75 and the quality of his corrections were a bit lower than his norm means that he was working on episode 80 at the same time as 75.

Maybe, he did both episode 69 and 75 conservative? And go half all out in this one? I mean he could do episode 80 at the same time as both of these episodes.
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.

To be honest the NEP are usually either misleading or for some reason they use the worse shots. (Toei:Marketing what's that?) We can spend hours discussing the looks of episode 80 from the NEP but the truth is that these could be either the worse or the best shots of the episode. The 79 NEP was the biggest trolling moment ever. It looked pretty ugly compare to what we got and I was pretty sure that 79 would be an unpolished episode full of Tateisms.
The same could apply here. The laSt ultimate Gohan shot was interesting. Maybe they will focus on making the ultimate Gohan fight as sakuga as they can (yeah I wish), I mean as good as possible (much better)
For some reason when the Grand Priest said "OOOOOH we will think the rules for the tournament later", I translated it to "these fights won't be in the manga and that's Toyotaro's best shot to go beyond the anime's story"

Thats 100% Manabe to me, if the filter wasnt there, it would be obvious. The shading on the hair and the ears, and the eyebrows really look like Manabe.
to me at least

Interesting how Yashima is the top credited 2nd KA on this episode. Anyone have a screenshot of what he did? I dont think i spotted him through my first watch

Well, maybe some 2nd Key Animation didn't hurt. I mean if it's a lots of them, still wouldn't hurt that much.
And, Yashima is a fast animator. I always thought corrections are always faster to do, than actually animating it.

I just went through the episode specifically looking for Yashima traits and found nothing, I'm just going to guess his corrections were mainly with the non human looking characters like Buu and Basil.
Anyways, polished Tate art makes me happy.

I hope in his next episode he's able to provide both polished art and great animation.
Also I adore these two shots of Basil.

Wonder who did them.
Also I wonder who animated Buu's final attack, it looked pretty nice, especially the way Basil animated.

DAMN those look fantastic! also, Takamura was a 2nd KA this episode. i wonder when he/she (I'm not sure xd) will supervisor an episode
Also, a guy by the name of "Taiichiro Ohara" who has been here since dragon ball ep #3 (He supervised a couple of episodes, but was most of the time a key animator), is now probably a regular. i'd guess hes probably really good.
and the top credited KA on this episode also directed it.

Yeah, that's as Manabe as it comes. The effects during this section are also his, too:

Most of the preview is very Manabe.

Sure was! Lovely chubby Tate hands and effects.

Sawaki Noborisa has been working on Super since 68 (did some KA), did some KA for 74, and Supervisor on this episode. Also did some KA for the OP. She has worked for a variety of different studios. So obviously she's not Toei staff. I really wonder which Studio is she from ? 68 was Wanpack, but I really don't know whether she works for them or not. Also saw some Korean names on the KA list. So looks like the KA was outsourced to a Japanese studio(Sawaki and her team) and a Korean studio. Interesting.
Taichiiro Ohara worked on 68. Did KA for 74 and KA for 79. Ohara's working under Tsutomo Ono as Archah specified. So I guess Sawaki is from the same studio as Ono. So any idea anyone which studio Ono works for ?
This episode was solid, but I'm worried about NEP. It looks like the thicker lines effect is gone. I hope that's not the case and it will be added before the next episode airs.

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
Psykomatik wrote:Except if Tatsuya Nagamine is already gone, the thicker lines effect + the filter are gonna be applied. The episode isn't done yet, that's all.
It could be that they're continuing to fiddle with the post processing, the NEP still isn't the original look of the show, it's brighter and less saturated.
