List Some Fics

Post by Dayspring » Wed May 12, 2004 8:10 pm

I'm bored and not in the mood to write. I'm tired of reading fanfics that are written by twits who think they're gods because they got "published on fanfiction.net".

Here's what I'm looking for:
1) Saiyan Empire A.U. WITH A PLOT that's more than just a few chapters long. I want to see characters getting stronger+character development and DON'T want any cross-overs. If I see another fic where Saiyans/Oozaru Goku is "Really a demon in Inu-Yasha's world" I will hurt you.
2) Action based.
3) Must be a capable writer. You know what I mean. The same rules being used on this board concerning language apply to the fic.
4) PG-13 to R rating.

Dump 'em on me. Just don't link to Vegitasei Ascendent (read it all. WHY WON'T SHE UPDATE?!)

I understand what you mean. I've been reading/writing fics since 2000 and have seen the steady decline of quality. I tried searching for good fics yesterday and couldn't find any. I remember making two massively long combination editorials/rants/guides concerning DB fanfiction several years ago. To make sure it got the proper audience, I posted it at Fanfiction.net. I got a few hundred reviews, flames, etc... *wistful sigh* Those were the days...

I don't read many Saiya-jin AUs (they tend to focus on original chars, which I don't like), so I don't have anything on the tip of my mind.

Um, I know, I'm a bastard, but I can't help plugging my own work.

Give it a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Gotta toot my own horn here. Sounds like my Legend of the Super Sai-jin and it's just begining sequel Day of Darkness as well as that whole series as I get to them would be perfect for you. And I could use more constructive input so I can improve my writing.

And of course, any of my other fics you might want to look at.

And you could sift through my favorites, some of them are pure gems that, if they weren't fanfics, could be published and easily be best sellers. i.e. The Return by The Smooster, Wish for the Past by Burenda, and several others.

Learning to spell "Saiya-jin" would be a good starting point.

No he spells it that way on purpose Liam. It's to do with his story somehow I think.

Ah, okay. I'll let him off.

I'm tempted to go on some sort of rant about "Day of Darkness" as a title, since Babylon 5 pretty much destroyed any credubility night/day/light/dark metaphorical titles have, but I'll let it go for now. Mainly because I have an exam I should be revising for.

Yeah, Sai-jin is related to my AU/AT stories. If I should ever write one that's not an AU or AT then I'll use Saiya-jin. :P

As for Day of Darkness, there's nothing metaphorical to it. It's quite a literal title really. 8)

The only DB fic I ever wrote was a parody, and it sucked, at that.

I do have a fair share of fancomics, though... Which are all parodies. DAMMIT.

Parodies are quite tricky to do. I once tried to write one based around Transformers fanfiction (which always involves The Matrix, lots and lots of death, characters acting really "angsty", a sex scene between robots, and random new characters invented by the author who are suddenly extremely important to the Autobots/Decepticons. And Galvatron often getting turned back into Megatron, for some reason). It basically ended up as me just shouting at bad writers, without contributing anything interesting, or even funny.

Some Random Guy is a shining example of how to do a parody, although there are others that escape my head at the moment.

I'd like to see your fancomics though, Dai.

If you can think of a title for a particular series of DB parody comics I made (Which for some reason has Krillin spontaneously combusting as a running gag), score for you, and then I'll maybe get off my lazy butt and actually scan some of them.

It's true writing parodies is one piss assed job. Each time I try to write one, I keep on continuously rereading and fixing things because it's simply impossible for me to be fully satisfied with it.

Luckily, I'm too lazy to spend more than two hours a week writing.

No you're not! I write (well, I wrote...) Harry Potter fics too, under a different alias ( ). Harry Potter was the reason I nearly disappeared from the DB fandom for a long time. Then, I read Order of the Phoenix, burnt the book, and returned to the DB world. ^_^

Yes, but the problem with me is that I LIKED the 5th book!

I dissapeared from the DBZ world actually when Inu Yasha came to my life...then, I realized I had a long lost song I forgotten about! Came here, never found the song, but fell in love with the site anyway!

I liked the fifth book. Although my favourites were the third and fourth books. And it seems a lot of people have gotten swept away in Inu-Yasha fever this year, and left DBZ or other shows like Pokemon and Yugi-Oh!, so I wouldn't feel too badly about it Spirit. ^_^

Hey Mochi, you should check may favorites and give Wish for the Past a read, I think you might like it. Plenty of Chibi Goku/Goten/Trunks/Vegeta fun!
