Scenes from Dragon Ball Super with Kikuchi's OST 2

Post by general_marco » Tue Feb 14, 2017 9:16 pm

Hello beautiful people!

A while back I shared a few videos on the forums, which I worked on, where I decided to do for fun a few DBS scenes (specifically the Black Goku arc) with Kikuchi's DB and DBZ Japanese soundtrack. So then, I would like to share with you the latest scenes, which I got inspired to do in the past day or two:

The second confrontation between
Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and Goku Black and Zamasu
plus the big (SPOILER ALERT) revelation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQg6eRcAnDU

Another scene from the second confrontation where
Zamasu and Black tell Goku how exactly Black got Goku's body and Goku's rage mode afterwards
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0ZMC4mH6CM

The third confrontation where
Vegeta gets his revenge on Black
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maJInYhSQmM

Anyone interested in more scenes, you can check out the playlist I've made to make it more easily accessible: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... LbbLLxGS1R

Thanks to everyone deciding to take time to check these out!

Thanks for making these! I wish Kikuchi really could come back to compose for Super.

"My opinion of Norihito's Sumitomo's new score is... well, very mixed. The stuff that's good is pretty darn good, but the stuff that's bad makes elevator music sound like Jerry freaking Goldsmith." -Kenisu

Thank you! Really happy that you liked them! :) Yeah, I also miss his touch in certain moments (because to me music is 50% of a game/movie/anime/etc), but I do have to say that the Super soundtrack also has it's great moments! For example Black Goku's/Desperate assault theme, or the Dystopian Future theme, also Allies of the past theme and many more, which really echo to some extent Kikuchi in a modern way, which is also why scenes that feature those I do not wish to edit at all.

Not bad at all, I personally don't care much for music unless it really stands out, but this is good.

I'm gonna be the dissenting voice (shocking I know) and say that while I like the Kikuchi score, I don't think it fits the aesthetics of the current DB franchise. I don't know, wuxia music with this plasticky, oiled up action figure look doesn't jive well together.

Sumitomo might not be the best replacement but I don't think this series needs any more things or in this case people from the past being constantly brought back. It's mired in its own sad, trite bullshit enough.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

How the Black Arc Should End (by Lightbing!):

You are absolutely right. I also think that things should be going forward and this is why in the descriptions of my videos I've written, that I totally love what they did with Super's soundtrack (for the most part). The only problem I personally have with the score is mostly, that the action scenes (well with some exceptions of course) don't have meaningful music giving "weight" to the scenes, which is why I did this experiment out of fun. Same thing goes for GT. While I liked some of it's music (especially the main theme), the action scenes lacked greatly in the music part (again just my opinion, I'm sure some people actually liked the music). And thus I've also thought about trying out some GT scenes with Kikuchi's music.

So yeah, anyways thanks for sharing your opinion on the matter! :) I'm really hopeful that the new arc of Super will bring some great cues, which we'll all hum in our minds!
