I don't recognize anybody in the NEP except the final shot potentially being Shimanuki.
Maybe we have a new Supervisor, though it kinda reminds me of Toma at points.
The NEP could be deceiving, but it looks like the episode is lower priority than this one, thought with the fight seemingly going into 82 I guess it makes sense.

The Majority of the staff was Wanpack, they always use tons of animators.
The Assistant Supervisor list is weirdly big though, but I'm most confused by Tsuji being top credited 2nd Key Animator, I don't think I spotted her once.

I get Kaoru Takamura vibes, but I'm not too confident on that since, well, I'm not too confident on their style! You're right about that final shot having Shimanuki vibes - the hair and expression is very him - but it looks so corrected; it's very strange.
I think you'll notice Tsuji pretty clearly on a rewatch. She was there in a fair capacity as far as corrections go in that second half.
The NEP looks pretty bad but I'm not really worried. All the NEP haven't looked that special up until now but the episodes have been great. There's no way they'd have the Goku fight have animation that's much worse than the Boo or Gohan fight either.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
With Nashizawa being on this one, the NEP looking like it's a lower priority episode than todays and the fight seemingly going into 82 I hope that 82 is a nice episode from Karasawa, but I'm really starting to get worried that he's gone.

Yes, but staff from previous episodes were used again for this episode, and unless future episodes don't have much action, there won't be enough time for these animators.
Seeing some shots of Goku with huge eyebrows really reminds me of Karasawa, we saw that before in EP 66, also the final shot has some traits of him.
That was... okay. Not bad but a definite step down from last week. The art was consistent and the animation served this fight based on its tactical premise but going from Tate's impactful work to punches that look like nothing (most of the time) shows the imbalance between the different talents on this show and how well they can handle the schedule.
I'm indifferent to looped animation as long as it's not overdone. It wasn't.
No idea what he did this week, but it's bizarre/kinda cool to have a talent like that pop up on Super.
That's really cool. Do we have any kind of idea on what part of the episode he worked on? I also have to wonder who managed to convince him to work on the show?

So what do you guys think of the action sequence right after Gohan said he was well aware of this not being a mellow fight (around the 14:30 mark). The shifting of angles looked really nice imo.

Yeah, I was just watching it again and I noticed that too. This episode's animation was a lot more satisfying the second time watching, though still quite conservative.

It was an extremely conservatvie episode, there was nothing particularly bad with it, however there wasn't anything particularly good about it.
It was just a really solid, conservative action episode.
Personally, I liked it a little more than the majority #61, besides the Karasawa cut, namely because it was far more polished, and its scenes with interesting movement between the conservative cuts were actually done pretty decently.
This is really what I want from the average fight in Super, it doesn't need to be spectacular, it just needs to be effective at conveying what it needs to in an appriopriate manner, and that something I think this epsiode did well.
Overall, a decent, very conservative episode that I hope becomes the mean of action episodes to come.
EDIT: It was a very animated episode, there was a lot of conservative animation though, so I think thats what stuck with me.

The NEPs for both 79 and 80 were nothing special, but then both episodes turned out pretty nice, I wonder if they changed how they do NEPs and purposely don't show any of the good stuff. Really makes me hope that means 81 will actually end up having some nice stuff in it.

There were quite a few moments that were very smoothly animated, I imagine he did one of those, and with how low he is on the credits list he probably only did a single cut.
I really don't agree that this week was conservative. Not at all.
Looped animation doesn't mean something is conservative; it's how you execute it that determines that. This episode may loop in places, but it's changing to new angles a lot; there's plenty of dodging, cool movement, and wonderful effects work. The section towards the end with the cool rotations that leads into the Kamehameha really is great.
Stacks on stacks of drawings across both halves. The total opposite of conservative. They really put a lot of effort into it. Sure, it didn't have balls to the wall S A K U G A, but it was still very nicely done. There's far more animation here than last week.

Yeah, the conservative animation mainly spaced out some stuff that had lots of frames.
I liked the episode. There was quite a bit of nice animation. The parts where Gohan and Lavenda were flying around felt really fast paced and was quite exciting to watch! The fact that Ishikawa worked on three episodes in a row now, Yashima worked on three episodes of the last four, and Tate worked on the second episode in a row is somewhat worrying, though. In an ideal situation they would all be working on their next episodes, rather than assisting like this. Either the schedule is still as messed up as before all the weeks of conservative animation, or they are still being conservative in order to prepare for the real tournament. I'm hoping it's the latter!
As for the next episode preview: I think I spotted Karasawa. The part at the beginning where Goku flies at the screen reminds me of some of Karasawa's work. When Goku is still at a distance, his pointy chin reminds me of some of the super pointy chins Karasawa drew in episode 57. Then, when Goku is close, and you get a close-up of his face, the wrinkles around Goku's mouth, and also the nose and ears to an extent resemble his work. None of the other scenes particularly reminded me of him, though.

Thank God, I thought I was going crazy. I thought the angles and movements were intense this episode.

It's Saturday: know what that means? CR goes completely AWOL as a massive ass-load of people flood the site trying to watch Dragon Ball Super.
I have No HD version of the episode yet (maybe later tonight) but I must ask: did they completely remove the filter like in the NEP from last week? or was it reapplied?
I am an Animator, Illustrator, and Voice Actor. Check out MY Animation Thesis! HERE
I knew I spotted some of Tates octagon noses in this episode, I think he mainly did scenes where Goku was talking with the Supreme Kai about the fight, its a little worrying that his working here.
Also, Manabe was the top credited key animator for the second half I think, since the first half was outsourced to a different studio, does anyone know any strong displays of his animation during this episode?
