Buu? You mean the fourth strongest mortal in U7 that would have mopped the floor with all of U6 less Hit?

Aside from that, he's a pretty cool character given his personality when presented accurately.

I don't really care about 17, though. He's fodder at this point to most of the Z fighters.

Did you happen to read the part where I referenced Buu's personality? Not a big fan of 17's personality or relative lack of strength, but maybe Super will surprise me. As far as strength goes, Tien would probably wreck 17 at this point (and he did beat down semiperfect Cell if you recall). Roshi's fights are almost always entertaining, and his personality is fun, too. I don't really care how strong he is because his potential is more geared towards battle intelligence at this point in the series.

This isn't like Jaco, Bulma's sister, or Launch, where it even baffles me people get excited.

I'm intrigued by 17 but Majin Buu is one of the most popular characters wth are you talking about son?

Buu is the character with the most interesting abillities out of the whole team, so the potential for great/unique fights is higher if he's participating.

17 is a cool character with a cool personality that didn't get to do anything of worth in his singular appearance, can have a great dynamic with his sister and brother-in-law and has a lifestyle suited for great slice of life episodes, so him returning doesn't just bode well for himself but 18 and Krillin too.

17 is my best character.
I like the design, and I was really tired of monsters over monsters at the time.
It's someone you can impersonate easily with and his tricky complex personality stand out, it fit greatly the rest of characters. He's not Goku, he's not Vegeta, he's not "pure evil"... and have goals of his own that are not fight fight fight.
It's the Kakyoin of the situation, the side character with dark charisma, nice appearance, and fight with tricks.
In fact he could have been a great addition to the roster even before.
Frost vs 17 could have been a great battle of deceits.

Super17 is just the proof how GT sucks by totally flattening characters.

Buu one I like the less. I don't like too much this combo of overpower and dumbness. And only Kirby deserve to be pink and eat people. At the end, I also hate his voice.

I've never thought of myself as a power focused guy, but I'll admit the fight Buu had with Basil was incredibly entertaining. As a character I've never enjoyed Buu until episode 79 where he's shown to be back to his caring about Satan self.

17 however is exciting to me mostly because I'm intrigued how he's going to interact with my main man Krillin. Do they get on? Do they bicker? Is Krillin nervous around 17? Does 17 know Krillin wished for the removal of his bomb?

Then we have him and Piccolo meeting again.

How he's going to interact with Goku as they never met before.

And of course what is his relationship like with his sister these days?

As a fighter I can't say 17 currently excites me(barrier being the only unique move I can recall of his), but as a character? Yep. Wanna see how they reintroduce him too!

Nothing indicates Ten could even take Kuririn in a fight let alone someone far stronger in 17. 17 would wreck Ten.

We haven't seen 17 do anything since getting absorbed by Cell (not counting GT) and that was a million years ago. Why the hell wouldn't anyone want to 17 back in action? And even outside of fighting, even seeing stuff like him interacting with 18 and Krillin, or even the rest of the cast, should be interesting to see.

17 has potential to be a great fighter and character. Buu is already both of those things. If every member of our team gets the shine they deserve then you'd understand why each member is so great. I'd say every member has already reached a place where they'll always be liked regardless of their strength, but if this arc gives everyone just one episode where they get the respect that Gohan and Buu got in these past two episodes it'll do wonders for them. I expect 17, Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, and maybe Krillin to get multiple episodes dedicated to them, but if the rest of the cast just get one episode like we just got, then this arc did them justice. To say nobody likes them is just inflammatory nonsense anyway.

Every character is somebody's favorite.

Including 17 is nostalgia fanservice; people are curious about how he's been doing and not everyone reads Kanzenshuu so a lot of people don't know about his park ranger job, wife, and children.

Buu I think is being included because he was bait-and-switched in the last tournament; being advertised as part of it and then sleeping through the whole thing. This time's kind of a redemption for that.

You mean the same Tenshinhan that got stomped by 17? Terrible logic. By your logic, Cell Saga Tenshinhan >>> 16/Kamiccolo/17/18/SSJ Vegeta (pre-RoSaT)/SSJ Goku (pre-RoSaT) and even Imperfect Cell himself. Not to mention if Ten could have beaten 17, why didn't he? Why attack 17 when he could have just tried and annihilated him? You're trying to use the Kikoho to represent Ten's own power, and that's where your argument fails. To answer your question, no. 17 would have no problem stomping Ten out. 17 only has problems with Ten if he decides to stand there and let Ten hit him with a Shin Kikoho.

It's ironic that people spent years complaining that 17 was absent in the Buu saga and how GT screwed him over, so now that we finally have a chance to see his character handled properly post-Cell...people still complain?

Also what the hell does being a "nobody" mean? He was literally an antagonist for an arc, he's the brother of 18 and his ties to Future Trunks where his incarnation was feared and killed almost all humans makes him incredibly important.

The way people talk you'd think 17 is someone like Babidi's henchmen or something.

It's hilarious that people actually think Ten can fight the artificial humans. This wouldn't be the first time I've seen comments like this.
