Oh, wait. It was shown in the Toonami promo, how could I forget....
That means they had it some point and this was done on purpose, most likely last minute. Then they simply forget to change the Xfinity version. I'm just hoping it'll still be there on the Home Video release. I've got nothing.

I know about TFS channel being taken down but what other history have Toei and TFS had?OmegaRockman wrote:Some people were thinking that they were taken out at Toei's request. Yet they had their voices in the preview that used this episode's clips...maybe they just dubbed the thing a week before the promo & they didn't change the audio in time, or something?Valerius Dover wrote:My theory, feel free to debunk if you know more, is as follows. This theory actually has some credence to it when you think about it though. The, "my power is maximum," line wasn't introduced until Broly, where he said it, & that wasn't released until late December/Early January, so it was most likely recorded some time in late November/early December, though most likely written some time in advance. It adds to the improve feel that scene had if they did it that recently & were just screwing around over Skype while recording their voices to send to Sabat if this is how it happened. If this is true, & it IS on the X-Finity version, it might end up on the home releases after all. Still doesn't explain the radio silence we've been getting from them, but NDA's are a bitch to secondary actors, so...who knows at this point.
But then again, Toei...
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

But the "My power is maximum" meme had been around before the TFS Brolly episode. And TheBlackPaladin had mentioned knowing something interesting about the dub (since he's a voice actor)...and this was last year? Or before that? I can't even remember. But if this is what he was talking about, then the TFS recording definitely wasn't last minute. If anything, the usage of the the 2001 recording in the Toonami version indicates that that was the last minute change. And the on-demand versions that have it simply didn't get changed in time.
So my prediction is that the home release won't have it. But at least it's on the internet (and is thus preserved). Anyway, I liked it, but I was taken out of the moment because it felt too meta. And even though I liked the 2001 version, I would have preferred to get a fresh new take on that scene. Oh well.

Welp, Kaiser's keeping it hush hush in the DBZA forum, so I guess we'll never know...at least for a little while...sucks ass though...

I'm very certain as of an hour ago that after the initial promo was aired containing the TFS audio, it was imnediately reported to Toei through a mutual friend. Don't expect this on the home video release, it's a given Toei doesn't want this available on any format. The accidental release on-demand was an accident, like how Episode 1 of Kai had the Yamamoto score.
After this, Sabat probably now realizes he can't get away with sneaking blatant TFS references in the English dub without risking certain consequences.

Maybe they can incorporate it into DBZA, then lampshade it with a line like, "it'd be a shame if the production company dubbed over it with some other bullcrap," or something to really stick it to them.

Is this a confirmation or a theory? If so, I hope they at least do something different instead of leaving in the Z recordings.jelleline89 wrote:I'm very certain as of an hour ago that after the initial promo was aired containing the TFS audio, it was imnediately reported to Toei through a mutual friend. I can confirm the performance I know reported this to Toei immediately after the promo first appeared and got a response not long after. This explains why FUNi didn't have time to redub that scene and had to resort to using Z audio, which is definitely something I can't see Sabat being happy to do.Valerius Dover wrote:Is this a confirmation or a theory? That TFS wasn't supposed to be on Xfinity, so the fact that we are getting it at all is a miracle. But if my friend is to he trusted, and I have no reason to doubt him, that TFS audio will not be made available on the DVD.

Honestly, as disappointed as I'd be if the TFS version didn't make the final cut, I'd hope they would do something other than just use the old dialogue. I hope that even if we don't get the TFS version (which as said, we 99% can say we won't), that the scene at least gets redubbed as opposed to just reusing the old dub. The old dub of the scene is already amazing, but a new dub is one of the best highlights of Kai. Glad it at least made it into the wild somehow, now we have it forever. (Still sucks that the Ocean dub is still sitting on a hard drive somewhere, never to see the light of day.)
Anyway, as far as neat Easter eggs go, I'm still hoping they got Minaguchi for Pan while she was still in the US. (She had a role in the Pokémon dub while in America after all.)

So... the TFS guys are denying that they were ever supposed to be in that scene, which is obviously bullshit for a couple of reasons, and I don't know them to be liars. If it's important enough that they're being hushed about this, I wouldn't expect to hear them on the Blu-ray release.
Retired.
Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters" FUNimation English Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
It's obviously NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) mixed with Sabat telling them not to exacerbate the situation by confirming or denying things. That's all I can think of. We all know how Kaiser reacts to people mentioning Attack On Titan Abridged, right? So, who knows...Jinzoningen MULE wrote:So... the TFS guys are denying that they were ever supposed to be in that scene, which is obviously bullshit for a couple of reasons, and I don't know them to be liars. It's hilarious how TFS and Sabat thought using blatant impersonations and references from DBZA and that simply denying it publicly would make it A-OK. I know thry meant well but Toei was going to find out from the get-go. But if they had not featured it in that Toonami Promo or used painfully obvious aliases on the press release, the audio might have at least got shown on the actual broadcast.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:So... the TFS guys are denying that they were ever supposed to be in that scene, which is obviously bullshit for a couple of reasons, and I don't know them to be liars.
