The fact that Evolution existed basically killed any further interest in another live action movie (because it was bad and it failed).
If Evolution didn't exist, that interest wouldn't have been killed and, by now, a different live action movie could have been made or could have been planned.
And that hypothetical live action movie would probably end up being better than Evolution.
So, it would probably be far more advantageous if Evolution didn't exist than if GT didn't exist.
Also if Evolution didn't existed to be a failure, Toriyama probably would not be motivated to contribute with the series again, so we probably won't have BoG, RoF or Super, which even though some are enjoyable, I don't like it as further additions to the series.

GT may have had some missteps, but I actually enjoyed some of it. Can't say the same for Evolution. Which was both a bad Dragon Ball movie and a bad movie in general.
Going by the legends the "heros" of different cultures were capable of absurd feats when conditions met..
Assume for this one you can reach those absurd feat levels but it will take time and imagination like goku to innovate your own methods.. which goku will help with once you think them..
