Either Toei doesnt even know what the hell they're doing (with Goku and who the main rival is) or they're doing this on purpose to throw a curve ball at us.
And I dont see how it would pose a problem that Jiren may turn out more powerful than his leader, I mean we had Beerus the GoD and Whis just his attendant, and none of us expected that Whis would turn out more powerful than Beerus, there are also tons of anime and fictional work out there that has their members more powerful than the actual leader.

The OP was done close to last minute, one of animators tweeted they were working on the OP a mere few weeks before the arc was gonna start. The shot of the mystery hodded guy in the PV was probably from the un-finalised episode.Helios518 wrote:What are the chances that Toppo instead of Geran (assuming that's the bald alien dude) was supposed to be the one that fights Goku in the opening but they couldn't fix it in the last minute?

Yes, It was the second time the same animator did that but instead of thinking everything was done last minute, maybe nobody let him tell anything until everything was finished.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:The OP was done close to last minute, one of animators tweeted they were working on the OP a mere few weeks before the arc was gonna start. Jiren looks pretty cool in Heroes...
And I still want to know the relationship and interaction between him and Toppo. Toppo is GoD candidate while Jire is hyped

Could people stop pretending that either Goku or Vegeta had abandoned their families? Cause they really didn't, I thought abandon was when you left without anyone knowing why. In the case of Oob, Goku told to his family before, same thing with Vegeta. Bulma and Trunks knew why he was leaving, Bulma even made a new outfit for him for god's sake.LightBing wrote:I find the idea that Vegeta has been domesticated, odd. Did everyone forget him against Black after RoSaT or abandoning his family for months to reach God level, we also have him tutoring Cabba.
For me Vegeta has been one of the most interesting characters in Super, mainly because we have been given the opportunity to witness his development that started in the Boo Arc.
And I disagree about Vegeta being one of the most interesting characters in Super, he's better than Goku and that's a fact as in Super he's just portrayed as a really enthusiastic dumb guy, addicted to fighting, with rare moments of seriousness and maturity while Vegeta since Episode #2 shows he cares about his family, but even though he made a speech admiting Goku was better, he regressed to his Android arc self, obsessed again in surpassing his rival, always grumpy for stupid reasons and used often to silly gags that we could never imagine Vegeta to take part in Z.
Not just Vegeta, but also Goku had his best characterization in Boo arc IMO it saddens me that in Super they're almost like a parody of themselves in Z.Chuquita wrote:Buu arc Vegeta was amazing and the Vegeta that I miss the most. I'd settle for early Super at this point only because I'm near the end of my rope with Vegeta and my hopes are so low atm, but Buu arc Vegeta is the ideal characterization of him that I'd be excited to see return.Noah wrote:I feel you, I'm tired of they using Vegeta for stupid and overused jokes, but I wouldn't say I would like his Super Vegeta persona to came back, I think the best characterization Vegeta ever had was when he came back to Earth to fight Boo-han that he had to join with Goku, we had good moments of them together (including filler)
I don't think TFS has plans or abridging Super in the future.Ki Breaker wrote:Maybe TFS will make him Just like that

Sure, he's so "obsessed" about surpassing his rival that he didn't care at all about Goku going to train by himself because he prefers to be next to his pregnant wife. And no, he didn't revert to his "android arc" self. You're maybe forgetting Future Trunks was often surprised by some of his actions, exactly because his father is rather different from the one he saw last. Sometimes i wonder if people are watching the same series or just think it's cool to repeat the same dumb complaints ad nauseam.Noah wrote:he regressed to his Android arc self, obsessed again in surpassing his rival, always grumpy for stupid reasons and used often to silly gags that we could never imagine Vegeta to take part in Z.

What is one thing, to many ones? Vegeta was dissatisfied with Goku wanting to be trained by Whis too, with him showing a better performance than him against Hit, cheering for his purple clone to defeat Goku even thought that would mean he would die? He was excited that Black look like Goku so he could give a good beating to someone with the appearance of his rival. Often surprised where? I just recall Vegeta encouraging and motivating Trunks, with barely scenes of their training, but that's it, we hadn't much scenes of them together, I could say even Goku had more screentime with Trunks than Vegeta. I can just recall Trunks forgeting his own techniques for the sake of using Vegeta's ones, If you want to build a good relationship between father and son, you don't need to f*** the character's originality. And don't even make me talk about that lame Father-son Galick Gun just played for nostalgia issues that never would be comparable to the actual scene they're trying to reference to and in the end accomplished nothing.

I know I can't say this enough but GT Vegeta was Best Vegeta to me. The guy even had a bit of a sense of humor and smiled a bit and only got grumpy when annoyed or had his pride hurt.Araki wrote:Sure, he's so "obsessed" about surpassing his rival that he didn't care at all about Goku going to train by himself because he prefers to be next to his pregnant wife. He still wanted to Rival Goku, but not to the point where he was above cooperating with him. Further it was organic and not forced. Vegeta will cooperate with Goku to save the world, but on his own terms not splitting a bunk..

Exactly! GT Vegeta was a good progression to the character he was in Boo arc, we saw in this same arc that Vegeta not wanting to cooperate with Goku could cost the destruction of the planet he learned to enjoy living and the possibility of not reviving his loved ones again. In GT we saw Vegeta pulling the idea of fusing with Goku first, in RoF/Super we had them both of them regressing in not wanting to cooperate with each other against Golden Freeza which was pathetic.TheMikado wrote:I know I can't say this enough but GT Vegeta was Best Vegeta to me. If I have an option to choose between GT Vegeta and super Vegeta..
I will gladly go with super , even if both are absolutely trash in entertainment compared to Z Vegeta..
Honestly why can't we have the widely accepted Vegeta who can even be seen in the manga right now?
Why is it absolutely fucking necessary for him to develop into a goddam bore..
I have said it once, I will say it again, developing Vegetas character that way is going to kill the character's all interesting attributes..
It already has turned him into a giant bore, we had an entire tournament Without him, has anyone ever thought why Vegeta fans Everywhere aren't going insane? Whenever he was absent he was missed, now mostly nobody cares..
This has to be seen and experienced yourself, go to other forums if you want, even YouTube is okay, no one actively mentions him..
Meanwhile Everyone mentioned gohan in every arc he had nothing to do with..
Interests drop, if Vegeta acted the same he does now he wouldn't even be worth being a favorite..
You can count this as just my opinion as I can't back it up, but the point remains

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
EoZ we meet Vegeta and he's in casual clothing with Bulma meanwhile Goku is in a gi training with Goten. Tells you all you need to know, Super Vegeta is heading that way, it's progression. Might not be interesting to some folks but it is what it is, I predicted Vegeta would quit after the Trunks arc in that Trunks sacrificed himself and Vegeta blames himself and quits.
I am not surprised Goku is branching away and meeting new potential rivals, Vegeta's kind of got boring as a rival like there is only so much there, seems Vegeta needs Goku more than the other way around and with so many new and mysterious warriors out there where Goku's norm doesnt apply of course Goku will not be bothered about Vegeta anymore he's always been ahead of him anyway.
Vegeta as a character was last interesting was when he attempted the sacrifice against Buu, like Herms said Toriyama had to effectively re write Vegeta after Namek into Cell and I think I understand what he means and I think it's the same after he attempts the sacrifice.

Why he thought so? Because Vegeta was not consistent with the character he was in Namek?Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Herms said Toriyama had to effectively re write Vegeta after Namek into Cell and I think I understand what he means and I think it's the same after he attempts the sacrifice.
