I doubt we'll ever see fusion (aside from Gotenks) ever again. The incredibly stupid decision to retcon Vegito to a 1hr time limit, and then a 5 minute time limit once he turned Blue, has effectively made him completely useless.

If they were to ever make Gogeta canon in Super, I bet the same thing would happen.

That doesn't matter, they're only going to do it at the end when the fighting's over.

You can't affordably plan to do that at the very last second, because you risk to get the result too late. Even a second too late would still be too late... so you should consume all of your energy a few minutes before that, to do not risk to go overtime... but with the risk of passing the last few minutes defenseless.

And think about the possibility that you are defending yourself in melee (close) combat... if you don't have time to charge and release a super attack, you cannot deplete all of your energy in time!
