I agree.
His body probably wasn't very damaged at the time he died, he may have got brain dead, but maybe the cybernetic enhancements were to susbstitute the rotten parts

But the brain, though, shouldn't be left to be functioning.
Damn it's fun to compare Dragonball with the real world!

How about Trunks getting blasted point blank through the chest during the Cell arc? I mean, that blast went straight through him, straight through the heart!
Also, as far as Ki-survival is concerned, Broly was able to protect himself and his father from being killed on Planet Vegeta by creating a protective bubble around them - when he was just a baby.
Admittedly, a baby with a power-level of OVER NINE---I mean, ten thousand...

In the manga there was no sign of him being alive after that. He was dead.

Yeah, eventually he dies off soon after his last blood barf, as we see with Shenlong bringing him back to life.

Did it actually say that it was Tsuru who found him? I always thought it was Tao himself who managed to drag his carcass to someone (likely Gero) and give him every zeni he had for cyborgization, which, in turn, probably helped finance the jinzoningen.

Very unlikely. He was "injured" enough to the point where he looked to be completely disintegrated, way out in the land of Karin where he was hardly suitable to drag himself somewhere. I believe Crane hermit does mention having him restructured in the anime, but not 100% sure. Gero may or may not have been involved, either way it's never stated if he was.

When did this happen? I don't remember Piccolo getting his body blown off by Cell...

This happened when Imperfect Cell interrupted the fight between Android 17 and Piccolo.
Damn, I forgot THAT?
Thanks for telling me, I guess...
Wow, I forgot that scene, and it was even a scene with Ginyu Transformation in the dub, so it HAD to be important! Looking at Piccolo after the blast, you can barely see the hole, but the blast went through half of his stomach area.

then of course we have Piccolo mouth-blast right through Goku's chest, and having Goku somehow stand up and say 'it looks like you didn't hit any vital organs'. The hell???? At the very least, his lung should have been punctured!

He's a Saiyan. Who's to say his lungs are in the same place as humans, eh?
ZOMG FORESHADOWING?!?!?!

For all we know, the blast did impale/puncture his lungs. However, we gotta keep in mind that Goku barely had an education growing up, only learning to read while being raised by Grandpa Gohan while getting a few English and Math classes under Roshi's tutelage during training for the 21st Budokai. I doubt he knows very much about the human anatomy, other than the basics of knowing where not to be attacked during fighting. As should be known, Goku's basically an all-around hick and may not've realized his lungs were punctured beyond belief or could've just been toughing it out through bluffs. In my opinion, his point to Jr. was that he hadn't been hit in an area of his body to be mortally wounded, unlike the shot to the heart Vegeta gets from Freeza or Piccolo's final attack on Raditz that obliterated nearly all the internal vital organs in his torso. Some people in real life I know believe that if you get shot on the upper right side of your chest, you have a much better chance of living longer and surviving than getting it anywhere on the left side or lower stomach area. This has been displayed in various works of television shows and anime fiction, though obviously getting the lungs damaged poses a significant problem. With Goku at least, a senzu healed him 100% in the end.

You can survive an uncertain amount of time with only one lung I believe.

I'd say Krillin, Piccolo, and Vegeta had it the worst and came back. Freeza surviving was a joke...

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.
