The manga. Toyotaro came up with that dumb drawback, so the way Vegeta is using it this time makes no sense whatsoever. Vegeta barely transformed and did anything against Cabba and he was already at 1/10.

That's a good question. The Super manga was a very different product at the time, even the BoG Arc was very poorly told. I think it's probably best to defer to the movies when anything is in question. I don't put much stock in the RoF manga, mostly because it's so faithful to the movie. There's no reason to bother looking into it. Either way, the safest answer is "Some vague version of these events definitely happened".

1) Throughout the Champa Arc and Future Trunks Arc, details about the Freeza fight were given and it's the same details from the movie and the anime. Stuff like the Freeza Army were not though. You keep mentioning canon but all 3 versions are canon but they're told differently

2) Toyotarou probably would not have used Super Saiyan God in the arc unless Goku didn't actually absorb the God power and he used Super Saiyan God against Freeza before he transformed into Golden Freeza. When Goku and Freeza unleashed their full power, I assume Toyotarou would have used Blue like the other versions

Thanks for the quick and solid responses. It probably doesn't make much sense for Goku to use Super Saiyan God against Freeza, fair point. And I do agree that like the FnF promotion, the BoG adaptation was rushed. I do think the early integration of Champa/Vados does flow well into the U6 arc as well, plus the couple short omake/bonus chapters (I think there were two, Kaioshin/Kibito splitting with the DBs and the one about Pilaf and co. turning into kids), so I think even if treating the films as the primary sources, that material is useful IMO.

Lol do you pay attention to the manga at all? Goku used Super Saiyan God during the competition with the 6th Universe and Zamasu watched the competition, having searched for Son Goku on GodTube
