What's Your Occupation?

Re: What's Your Occupation?
I'm on my first year of university after taking a gap year. I'm studying literature (English literature, specifically) and language, English grammar and German for beginners at the moment. Well, the name of the course is technically "Languages, Literatures and Cultures", but the "Culture" part isn't very relevant to my variant. I don't really have a good idea about my future, but a master's degree in English or Anglo-American Studies would be good.

Re: What's Your Occupation?
I've been a web application developer (php) for just over two years now.
Prior to that I spent a decade in retail management. I was a store manager, store manager trainer, and then assistant district manager. I was in the process of going through all the interviews to become a district manager when I decided I just couldn't do it any more. I wasn't happy, and it was never a job I wanted as a career. It's just one of those things where you take a job to pay the bills and before you know it you wake up and 10 years are gone.
I use to build websites and run an dragon ball fan site back in high school and I always enjoyed it, so I figured I'd give it a try as a career. I took a few courses online through the local university, got a few projects completed to have something to talk about in interviews, and then landed my first job as a php developer in late 2014. I've learned something new literally every day and I love it.

Lol yeah. Even as a college-age person, I sort of assume that the majority here are older than I am, but I guess a lot of the "old guard" have sort of grown out of it, so it's understandable.RoarkVegeta wrote:I'm currently a business major and on the side deliver pizzas full time, which is as fun as it sounds!
So crazy to hear about kids on here in high school (or younger) since that was me not too long ago. Hang in there!

I work as a translator..
You don't get enough work and don't know what it will pay, it's roughly around 20$ a month in American money i guess..
I am studying right now along side with it, trying to make the most of it ..
My dream is to become an Olympic archer and I am working towards it, when I have extra cash I join the club and practice my ass off at that

Wow, almost a year have passed and I got my lawyer's license, but I ended my two offices. Brazil's economic crisis is heavily affecting private initiave. That's right, I'm only working to the State and I have studying to pass the attorney's public tender.Hugo Boss wrote:Right now, I have a store that sells computer equipment and want to expand to provide support materials for pc games such as keyboards, mice and laptops. I provide consulting services to microentrepreneurs also.
Next month, I will begin working on the Secretary of State for Management and Security as a advisor for planning and strategic actions. It's an agency of the Executive Branch that takes care of public service and public servants.
Due to some delays, I will have to wait a little longer to take my lawyer's license, but I hope in the next three months it will be in my hands.

(Note: I'm not able to delete my old post here so I'm making a new one.)
I'm currently in grade 11 at an arts school. Currently I am unemployed but I have a decent amount of money from my old job as a paperboy. At the moment I'm in a rock band with some friends and hopefully I can get some gigs at some point. I'm hoping to study political science/cultural anthropology/economics at university and hopefully that will lead to a job. At the moment, I'm just Some Douche on Kanzenshuu.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

I honestly cannot remember if I've posted in this thread years ago or not, but I'm a research assistant, closing in on finishing my doctorate in theoretical physics. I also infrequently do freelance translation work to pay for pizza.

I received my masters in Library and Communication Studies last year. I'm currently working part-time as a Receptionist in my local sports centre and a library in Dublin as an intern, I'm hoping to get a full time job in a library or administration role at some point down the line.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Re: What's Your Occupation?
Front Desk Administrator* at a globally successful business insurance company. I answer phones, manage inventory for the entire floor and assist with various departmental projects.
In 2012, I started work in video game collectible retail after wasting my time in community college for two years (Pro Tip: if you don't know what you want to do, spending money on classes you hate won't bring you any closer to figuring it out), then moved on to customer service/management at a local YMCA in 2015... aaaand left that in pursuit of a better career path, a year to the day I was hired. Within a week of leaving, I landed this incredibly supportive job not a mile from my home. I won't pretend a great deal of luck wasn't involved. It was just a matter of the right cards falling into the right places.
Don't let anyone ever tell you college is necessary to succeed. Don't let anyone tell you college is nonsense either, because it's most certainly not. Find your path and work with the tools that you are given.

I'm a Learning Technologist at a Russell Group University. Specifcally by job-title I'm the 'Lecture Capture Coordinator', which essentially means that I oversee and service-manage the University's timetabled lecture recording operation.
