Also it doesn't make sense because I don't think Toriyama understands English anywayBansho64 wrote:Yeah, these type of bullcrap rumors come up a lot. And that doesn't make any sense because, if you really analyze it, the original is arguably more serious without a question.Simere wrote:I used to see a rumor that Toriyama prefers the Funimation dub of DB because he likes the more serious take.

I don't know shit about shit, but it feels to me like a simuldub is just what's needed to generate and maintain popularity. The BoG arc was a rough start and RoF is going to be even worse.

That would mean skipping the Zamasu and Goku Black arc and it would mean there's no weight to the Universal Survival arc if it stars in like half the arc.

Do you honestly think they would skip those arcs? No way in hell would that happenCure Dragon 255 wrote:That would mean skipping the Zamasu and Goku Black arc and it would mean there's no weight to the Universal Survival arc if it stars in like half the arc.

I mean if Toonami does get to air the Simuldub, sure they may be released on Home Video, but casual viewers will probably miss the arcs if they decide to skip them.

I have read that it might've been the main series composer who said that.Bansho64 wrote:This is actually a rumor that's been spread around for a while. Research it yourself if you don't believe me. So, Forneverworld said something big's gonna happen with Super in the coming weeks/months. If it's a simuldub, I wonder how they're gonna handle the logistics of it. Are they gonna get their episodes out a few weeks after the sub, or the same days? If they do, could Sean & Kyle set up a home studio or something in California so they can telecommute, or would they fly out to Texas for a few days every several weeks?
Or, are they simply fast-tracking the dub for their streaming services? I could see this going either way, honestly. If only Toei would let them release Super on home media regardless of the TV deal, like One Piece. I mean, is it really important that they show the episodes on TV before releasing the DVDs & Blu-Rays? I understand not being able to release them for a while until the Japanese ones have been out because of reverse importation, but what about a few months after? They're already a year & a half behind, so it's not like they'd have anything to fear really.

A simuldub seems possible at this point especially with what Forneverworld said and Toonami can still air the show because there's no agreement in place that says that they can't air it if FUNi does a simuldub, especially because the episodes that FUNi would be simuldubbing wouldn't even air on Toonami for a good while and because, unless they put up a backlog of dubbed episodes on FUNimationNow when the simuldub starts, they'll be the first to air the dubbed Universe 6 and Goku Black arcs. Remember, not everyone has the money to subscribe to FUNimation Now so if a simuldub starts, it'll stay on Toonami

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Realistically I can only see them going through with a simuldub if Toei has informed them in advance that the Universe Survival arc is actually going to be the final arc of Super (like how they simuldubbed Fairy Tail Zero because that was going to be the end of the Fairy Tail anime for the time being).
I can't see anything else working out logistically. People can set aside any personal business they might have for 3-6 months if they have to to make things run smoothly, but asking them to keep their schedules open indefinitely, on an ongoing basis just in case they need to record would be ridiculous/impossible.

What's the difference exactly? Honest question. Even if they don't do a simuldub they already have to record those episodes on an indefinite basis, don't they?Theophrastus wrote:Realistically I can only see them going through with a simuldub if Toei has informed them in advance that the Universe Survival arc is actually going to be the final arc of Super (like how they simuldubbed Fairy Tail Zero because that was going to be the end of the Fairy Tail anime for the time being).

And what's ridiculous about it? Isn't that what actors do? Isn't that what the Japanese voice actors are doing?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
The way Mike McFarland and Joel McDonald described the simuldub/broadcast dub production process on the One Piece Podcast (which was a couple of years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I kinda doubt it) is that the production schedule of these dubs is so tight that they're forced to focus on putting out exactly 1 episode per week. Meaning everyone would have to record every single week while the series is on-going. They also specifically mentioned "trying to make sure no one goes anywhere for a few months" as one of the challenges the whole initiative presents because of that. Sometimes that just isn't possible because of real-life shit, though. Eventually something would come along that would mess up the production line if they had to keep doing it week after week with no end in sight.
DVD releases allow for a much more flexible production schedule in comparison because they can just have an actor come in and record a bunch of lines all at once when they're available.
As far as Japan goes, I'm pretty sure they also have the benefit of being able to record in batches, and even if they don't, Japan is smaller and much more densely packed than the state of Texas so it would be easier for Toei to get everyone they need together on short notice.

What is exactly did Forneverworld say? And what is their reliability like?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
He said that he has some sort of partnership going for FUNi & him & he's been reviewing anime & manga for years now on YouTube, so I'm doubting he's lying about something big happening with the series.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:What is exactly did Forneverworld say? And what is his reliability like?
I'd take a grain of salt if you check him out though. Ever since his beef with Double4Anime, I stopped checking him out as much. Geekdom101's a better person for these kinds of things, but we'll see what's going on soon.
It wouldn't surprise me if they do announce its end, but I'm doubting that's what's going on given its popularity in Japan & its booming popularity overseas.Theophrastus wrote:Realistically I can only see them going through with a simuldub if Toei has informed them in advance that the Universe Survival arc is actually going to be the final arc of Super (like how they simuldubbed Fairy Tail Zero because that was going to be the end of the Fairy Tail anime for the time being).

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
Oh right cool just saw the video, definitely seems something is up, that simuldub teaser had MHA, AoT and DBS. We knew MHA was getting a simuldub, now AoT is via Toonami and so that leaves Super, and given that news definitely seems the case. It's obvious Toei just want it to air on TV and then FUNi can do what they want hence Kai being released full steam ahead. So a simuldub for the U.S arc and the catch up via Toonami that would be the best scenario but I am still apprehensive about a simuldub, we'll see!
