Are there any instrumentals of Bruce Faulconer anyone likes?

Oddly enough, that song isn't listed, what SonEric84 is asking for is the tune; "Heaven Sent Trunks"Taku128 wrote:The description says what the songs are in the order that they appear.SonEric84 wrote:What is the song played at the VERY end of the instrumental part II video?
Funny story actually, sort of. The piece is originally first heard in episode 176 of the US numbering, when Goku sacrifices himself. I liked it, but couldn't found it listed on any CDs, it was only a 10 second piece anyway. I contacted Faulconer about it and me and his wife (I think) exchanged emails for a while, and I told him that I liked it a lot. Then, 4 months later, DBZ Volume 5 came out, with this really long, and extended version of the piece of music on its tracklisting, oddly called; "Heaven Sent Trunks". Its quite a nice piece and is one of my favourites.
Its available on CD 5, is the longest track on there I think (Spanning... THREE whole minutes!!! ...) na dis a pretty nice tune.

I personally think that the Japanese music is better but I like Faulconer's music more.
I don't like his music as... Music. But as background fillering. It dies into the background for me and just adds to the intensity of the scene. My favourite example being during the Kamehameha war between Cell and Gohan, that episode was just so intense with its roaring themes that bring up the tempo of the episode. The Japanese music makes the episodes feel a lot more dead now.

Not really. You don't have to like something just because its better. For example, Naruto isn't as good an anime as One Piece, but I like Naruto more. Situations and experiences call different opinions.Snail wrote:Something is a little off with this sentence. I explained my actual sentence in the rest of my post; though the Japanese music is better music, I prefer Faulconer's when it comes to DBZ scenes.

I think he's referring to someone getting a DBZ soundtrack cd and listening to it on a cd player or an iPod. You listen to it as music like that. In a tv show, the BGM is supposed to help the scene convey the emotion that goes along with it.
Ginyu Transformation doesn't hit you as much listening to the song itself as it does when watching a scene with it in the anime. As it plays during a scene in the anime, it fully captures the essence of a turning point in the series, good or bad. It's the BGM coupled with the characters and the emotion built up to that scene.

Exactly. As stand-alone music, give me the Japanese. And even for the show, give me the Japanese.
But sometimes, Faulconer got it right.
Ginyu Transformation/End Of Cell was one of them, probably the best.
(In fact, that entire sequence, everything from Cell becoming Super Perfect, to his finally dying, is arguably the best sequence in the entire American dub, and just maybe the one and only time that the dub *surpassed* the Japanese original)
