I have to agree. Ryusei Nakao's got Freeza on the map. I love the reactions he makes for Freeza when he's pissed or shocked. I love the" KYAAHH!!" cry. It's so high pitched, he really does make Freeza sound like an evil tyrant.Aukon07 wrote:Japanese, because I think the emotion and expression was better portrayed in than the English version. And I liked Freeza's quick response "NANI!?!" and how it went with his facial expression. There are other points I liked but they have been already written above.
Which do you prefer?

I like Ms. Nozawa's in this scene personally. :3
Do you think they'll let Mr. Schemmel re-record his latter Season 3 lines the way Mr. Sabat and Mr. Strait did in the 2nd boxset? I've seen some of his most recent works and I think as long as the other two VA's are doing it, his characters could definitely benefit from redubbing as well.
Having a redubbed Vegeta talk to a 1998 Goku always comes off to me as if Goku's mocking him or something because of the huge time gap.
Yet oddly enough I liked 1998 Vegeta. o_O

There is no Ocean version of this clip.Aukon07 wrote:Japanese, because I think the emotion and expression was better portrayed in than the English version. PS: What about the Ocean Dub version?

Especially in the new box sets. Good god, I was watching them the other day, and I suddenly got a horrifying urge to put it on mute whenever Goku's voice came on. I much prefer Ocean Dub anyway, I just wish that the new box sets had an audio track where you could watch it with the Ocean Dub.Duo wrote:I just don't like the way Sean Schemmel sounds.
I totally agree, and that's actually what happens in the Manga as well. You'll notice that after Goku goes Super Saiyan, his speech balloons turn more angled, instead of "fluffy" like prior to transformation. This doesn't happen after he masters Super Saiyan though._Jrinu_ wrote:I definitely think that the Japanese one is superior here. To me, the way goku's yelling in the English dub makes it sound like he's trying to go super saiya-jin, as though he knew what he was doing.
In the Japanese version he's just really really pissed off, and the anger is pulsating through him until he finally snaps. And the way the voice changes after he transforms: Just awesome.
On the subject, I prefer the Japanese track. He sounds pissed off rather then attempting to force himself to transform. That's what happens with Super Saiyan, it just happens.
EDIT:
It's not weird, I completely agree with you. Both Sabat and Schemmel's voices for the characters have noticably changed since past years.Chuquita wrote:Having a redubbed Vegeta talk to a 1998 Goku always comes off to me as if Goku's mocking him or something because of the huge time gap.

Vegeta's is much more rough now then in 1998 (like he's taken up smoking or something), while Goku's has gotten annoyingly soft and squeeky since that time. I don't like either now.

Gotta go with the Japanese version. The music in that version makes the transformation seem more surprising because the music had already been used before during the TV series, and the scream is chilling everytime I hear it.
The English version just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's just lame. The only thing it's got going for it is that Goku sounds like a man.
