It's because he has two separate character designs, one for his half oval eyes and one for his box eyes. This is still the head they are using when he doesn't have box eyes.

I know I just tweeted about it, in fact. Since he does all the big episodes, it's really difficult to find a representative base Goku from him that matched the other poses. Definitely undersold him. It was that or dead Goku, really. His stuff in #31 didn't really have his style developed enough to count.

Didn't he do the shot of Goku and Vegeta right before fusing?

Nope, I've always attributed that to Ishikawa, though that's just a guess. Could be Inaba or something, but nope, definitely doesn't match Karasawa's style.
Kinda surprised I didn't notice the Tate-ness of the nep beforehand. A few cuts seem to have his fingerprints all over them. Including this little gem.
"*sarcastically* Yeah, sure, let's go see Yamcha."
Pretty much just picked everyone who has had multiple episodes on Super, which is why Iseki and Yamamuro aren't included.
Good idea, but if you do this for other characters I would suggest considering using shots that include their hair too, since I have some issues with at least a few of these guys' way of drawing characters' hair.

It's gotta be Shimanuki. I know we've all gushed about how much he has improved since the series started, but he absolutely deserves the praise he gets. A close second for me would be a tie between Tate and Karasawa. They both have lovely, distinctive styles despite being nearly opposites in approach.
Tate by far is my favorite out of those pictures , but Shimanuki is more consistent.

Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Voted for Tate. His Goku just the perfect middle ground between exuberance while also retaining his mature features.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

Tate and Shimanuki aside, I like Manabe aswell as the two chiefs Ide and Tsuji, ultimately voted Manabe 'cuz Tate and Shimanuki were obviously gonna be the top 2. Dislike Nashizawa, Yashima, Itai & Kitano.
