Sorry, Stevey, we're waiting on Kino... again...

If she doesn't get back to me in a day or two, then we'll really just have no choice but to just use my script or something. Now that I'm back, I'll try getting in touch with her again.

Alright. Last I heard from her, she was having personal problems that were directly affecting her work on the script. She said it might prevent her from finishing it, so I asked her to give me what she had, along with directions on what she wanted done. The next day, she responded saying she'd do so. That was over a week ago.

Still no word from her since then. I think we're gonna have to assume the worst, being that she's become unable to finish. This is REALLY holding us up at this point, so I'm going to make one last barrage of e-mails, PMs and such to get her attention and find out what's up, but at the same time we're going to go ahead and just use my version of the script. Can't do much else at this point.

So I'll make one last attempt, but I'm still going to go ahead and make the visual recording guide using my script. Either way, I'll have it done hopefully by this weekend, and we can start recording next week. I mean it this time. More than I did last time.

Now, a few other things to bring up. Have the issues with the FTP been resolved, and have our wonderful editors gotten all the footage? I need another headcount of who exactly is helping with editing, too.

In that same vein, we need to decide how the editing work is going to be divided up. Keep in mind still, that there's not much actual "video" editing, just mostly a lot of adding voices and SFX and audio. However it's done, any and all parts will have to end up with Steven Perry eventually, since he's our "Music Man."

Also, we should start thinking about the credits, as it'd make sense to work on them while folks are recording. Do we want to do anything special for them? What footage will we use if not the footage from the movie? What song will we use? What exactly needs to go into them text-wise?

Also also, Tenken, are you still around and up for helping with cleaning up and prepping audio? I'll try PMing you, too.

That's it for now, I think.

"Bad news".

I'm very very sorry!

But it seems that René and I can no longer take part in the fandub. :?

Soon we'll have at least two (commercial) voice acting projects. Maybe we'll get even the job to make the whole dub of a really huge (but old) Anime (don't ask now, but it's a show which was really big in the USA). So, not only voice acting, but also writing the scripts, voice direction and so on. We will work at least one year to finish the show (plus other projects).

Aww, I feel so bad, guys. :(
I thought it could be our (René's and mine) final fandub, but...yeah, it took so long. :?

Sorry!
I hope you don't hate me now.

O_<

Oooooh, dear.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that, guys, and I'm truly very sorry for it taking so long to get things rolling. I'd have liked to have been recording by now, but there's been a lot more holdups than any of us would have liked, especially me. We're an amateur "group," so I can't say it's too surprising...

If you guys end up with any free time, and would like to still voice something like a freaked out pedestrian or two, then we'd love to at least let you be able to do that. It'd still be technically your "last fandub" role, right?

Either way, we're glad you guys were with it so long. It was nice having "pros" working on the project.

So... on top of other issues, that leaves us without VAs for Amond, King Kai, or... Tullece.................... >_O

I really don't know. I've had Arcwave, Daniel, and Eclipse all log in successfully. But I don't know if they have all the parts of not. I was on the verge of helping Steven Perry troubleshoot but he never responded to me last I addressed him.
If there's no actual video editing, why do we have four video editors? Does it really take that many people to add in the sound? It probably makes more sense for the voice actors to have them (or at least clips of the scenes they're in) so that they can manage the lip-syncing.
Also, we should start thinking about the credits, as it'd make sense to work on them while folks are recording. Do we want to do anything special for them? What footage will we use if not the footage from the movie? What song will we use? What exactly needs to go into them text-wise?
We can either super-impose them over the actual video, put them in a subtitle stream, or have a still image at the end like a lot of DVD authoring companies will do. Also, I know this is more or less "decided," but I'd strongly advise using the original soundtrack... for everything. I thought not having the original music was one of the biggest criticisms of the US broadcast version. Is it the Japanese BGM that hard to find?
So... on top of other issues, that leaves us without VAs for Amond, King Kai, or... Tullece.................... >_O
Yikers. Well, if you want I can audition for Tullece. I think he probably suits me more than Goku anyway. :P

Well'p, I got pretty much two different voices to use for Tullece if you guys wanna check out. Here's my Tullece voice at work in a short parody and here's my Goku voice in a very ruthless manner. Ya' know, if myself or Acid aren't suitable, we could always have omega give an evil Goku voice for Tullece. That'd be pretty homage-ish to the Japanese version. By the way, look out for a Kaio voice in that first one. :P

Not to be rude or anything, because I can see you went to a lot of effort, but that was pretty lacking in terms of the actual voices and delivery.

Oh, new things to address... Um, let's see. In order, I guess.

@ Acid about stuff -

Well the more video editors, the better, I think. It's a bit much to ask just one or two people to do. Under normal circumstances, yeah, we'd probably only need one, maybe two. But this project isn't exactly everyone's top priority in life, and I know that. So the more we divide up something time-consuming like video editing (even if it is mostly just syncing audio), the less of a workload it'll be on any individual editor who, quite honestly, will usually have more important things to do.

So on that note, we've got at least three who have at least been logged on, and that hopefully means they have the footage. That's good. Come to think of it, the footage is already in three chunks, right? Maybe that'd be a good way to divide the work between them.

Either way, Steven, make sure you get it worked out.

About the credits... well, I'm not 100% sure yet. But I think this is one of the places where we could go more the originality route.

Yes, one of FUNimation's biggest problems IS their not using the original/appropriate BGM. But I can answer that by saying... well, we're not FUNimation.

My point being that we're NOT a professional dubbing company creating a release that will be judged by thousands of picky fans. We're a bunch of fans doing this for fun. And to be honest, simply using everything that was in the original Japanese version just sounds, well, boring.

We're already staying very faithful to the original by having such accurate dialogue. Why not get creative in the music department?

Don't worry. Using "Cha-La" in the opening is a sure thing. To use anything else would be blasphemous.

So that's my opinion. I think it'd be best to put End Credits on the shelf for now. There's suddenly become a lot more things to worry about. When the time comes, I'll probably just have a poll or something. See what the majority opinion is. But not right now. Other stuff to do right now.

@ Everyone about the VA openings

Well... *sigh* This is certainly a pain in the butt now, eh?

I don't think we have to worry much about Amond. It's a small, easy role. Generic deep-voiced henchman. I'll fill this role, if nobody objects (pretty please? *Baby Haiya Dragon face*)?

King Kai, however, I'm not sure about. Do we need to hold re-auditions for him? Or should I dig into the audition sound files (hope I still have them) and just pick whoever, besides Timo, sounds best?

Tullece, however, we're definitely going to need to hold some sort of re-audition for. Too big a role not to. I'll get something together for that shortly.

...And Captain Awesome (Are you? Are you really?), you're more than welcome to audition if you'd like. :P

To spice up this almost-pointless post, I would love to audition for a small part - but alas, no mike.

We need a headhunter. I've heard some pretty good voice actors over at YouTube, maybe we can persuade them to join. I'd say Remix is a good candidate.
Kaboom wrote:That's good. Come to think of it, the footage is already in three chunks, right? Maybe that'd be a good way to divide the work between them.
I was going to split it up into 10 chapters, and indicate where one chapter ends and another begins via YouTube. I'll get this done by tomorrow.

We could probably handle two chapters per week.

Arcwave, you're helping me with the music, right? Once the chapters are established, I think we'll need to talk about what kind of music we'd need to place for each chapter, and we'll also need to make notes- to do with emotion and action and all that. You'll probably come up with better music choices than me. We need to make this good!

I certainly don't mean to put a cap on the creativity at all, I just thought that the scope of the project was to give the movie its due justice in English. At any rate, I think it'd be relatively easy to have a switchable audio track on the DVD, much like the Season sets... that is, if people would like that. In the long run I don't really mind since it is, after all, just for fun.

On that note, what's the status on that ex-Faulconer guy?
Steven Perry wrote:I was going to split it up into 10 chapters, and indicate where one chapter ends and another begins via YouTube. I'll get this done by tomorrow.
Are these chapters for dividing it up into manageable pieces, or do you intend for them to be the DVD chapters? Because I can extract the D.Box chapters no problem if that helps. And also, I don't know if 10 different YT vids will really attract the biggest crowd; sounds like a hassle to me.
