Futoshi Higashide actually draws Goku best then Shimanuki.

I'm surprised no-one has chosen Itai's Vegeta, I really quite like it though I do believe that Tate's Vegeta looks the fiercest.

I picked Itai's Vegeta.

I think if I'd chosen to do SSJ Blue Vegetas, then I'd have given my vote to Tate, but the few examples of him drawing his base form haven't been the best.

The image I picked would have been my choice if the mouth had matched the jaw he'd drawn. At the moment, it doesn't seem quite right -- and well, neither is the mouth I've drawn in that quick scribble, but you get the idea!

Itai is up there with Kitano as my least favourite & in both of those selections for Goku & Vegeta Itai was the worst for both for me.

Here's a little style guide for Goku:

Pretty much just picked everyone who has had multiple episodes on Super, which is why Iseki and Yamamuro aren't included.
Tate for Goku because I think he reflects Goku's age the best... There are others versions of Goku that are more well drawn, but they generally look too young...

As for Vegeta, I liked Karasawa's the most. Reminds me of Freeza saga Vegeta.

I feel like itai gets a pass because he usually has a barely any time, but still provides serviceable episodes. I think episode 67 was Kitano and itai. The difference between the first half and second half was night and day.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

My feelings on Itai style, is that his Kitano, if Kitano's style was appealing. I feel like they both only want to make small departures from the character designs, and I find while Kitano has trouble pulling this off because his not very skilled, on the other hand Itai manages to successfuly execute these small changes while still retaining the basic character designs.

These polls are kinda fun.

Let's do Trunks:
Image
Swapped out Itai and Nashizawa for Yamamuro and Higashide since the former two never drew base Trunks in any recognisable form.

I think pretty much everyone, besides Yashima and Kitano, did a good job at drawing Trunks (not sure why you chose that Tate shot), the ones that are sticking out to me personally are Karasawa(shading is nice), Manabe(really fierce expression) and Ishikawa(probably my favourite, really like the sense of youth that he adds).

Felt most representative of his style - I'm not really out here to lie to people. A lot of Tate's shots in #47 are corrected, so there's not a whole lot of choice there.

The only others I considered were these, but one wasn't a close-up, and I'm not a huge fan of the other.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I like the one I picked.

Ishikawa has the best Trunks here. I would say to do one for Gohan and Piccolo but I'm not sure if every supervisor has already drawn them at this point.

I was gonna pick Higashide, than I saw Yamamuros.

Manabe is underrated. His faces remind me of Keisuke Masunaga's work a bit.

Ooo, I like! I wonder if this'll be Tate's strongest episode so far.

Tackling the return of someone like #17 is a big responsibility. I'm hoping he goes all out.

It really feels like Tate is finding the right balance between his old (Super) style and a more traditionally DBZ style in this arc. I'm loving it.

That Manabe shot of Trunks is hilarious. It looks like he angrily ran up to the camera to hug it.

Manabe is brilliant and beyond criticism. You need to accept that camera hugs are in-fashion.
Retired.
