Hi guys! I'm new to this forum, but have been a DBZ fan and collector for 20 years. I moved to Japan from Kentucky 12 years ago and have been amazed at how much of a cultural impact the Dragonball franchise has made in Japan. Anyway, being a toy collector, I also write a blog called TOKYO TOY BASTARD. Recently I wrote a featured article about my experiences being introduced to DBZ and some information about the first line of action figures, both in Japan and the USA.
It's got some comedic elements, complete with a bit of adult language, so you were warned.
I think a lot of you will have had some shared experiences. Please share your experiences, thoughts, reactions or other comments below as well as the article itself.
DO BASTARDS DREAM OF DBZ?

Re: An American DBZ Collector's Experience in Japan
btw, I also worked in the manga industry from 2005-2007 as an apprentice and assistant illustrator to Fist of the North Star creator, Tetsuo Hara (which ran together with Dragonball in the weekly Shonen Jump back in the 80s). If it weren't for DBZ I wouldn't have ended up in that position. I go into some details the reason in the article.

Wow, I like your blog. Your devotion to collecting and your love of Dragon Ball over the years is quite admirable. Keep up the good work!
