I can't make out the nose honestly, I can see what you mean on the neck though. Very interested to see his art for the episode, hopefully we see lots in the NEP like we did with Tate.
Man, his art is so much better than it used to be.

Aside from the nose, it's the neck. Not really sure how to put it into words - it's just really thick with large traps? Kinda bulged on the sides too.

Describing traits is hard!
Ah, I see... It looked more muscular...
Wait, who did episode 87? I forgot

Btw the top Goku picture, what episode is that? Never seen it before.

87 will be Manabe, that top Goku picture is from the very beginning of 56.

Some new images from tomorrow's episode popped up on Moca.

A trait of Manabe's art that I usually recognize him by is the mouth. He draws very distinct mouths, especially in the more recent episodes. They're usually very narrow and tall.

When you compare the mouths to those of other supervisors, the difference becomes especially noticeable. For example:

Ishikawa:

Karasawa:

Yo, that's kinda weird. Images look great though. That last shot has a very similar look to a shot from the NEP that was not Tate, could it be a new supervisor?

I don't really have a hard time with Manabe, the image was just is just too small for me to make out a lot of stuff on Goku.

Yeah, I'm not sure really. It's weird, like, they're not Tate, but at the same time, they have a lot of his traits, so I'm wondering if it's someone he's correcting. They also seem really familiar! We're about due for another Wanpack episode, aren't we?

These are great! It's looking like a movie for me. The shading is great and all. We actually can see more decent Tate. Let's hope he have some good ol' Sakuga like his episode 26.

Well Ono was last week and last rotation Wanpack came after him, though I was kinda expecting them to show up with Manabe next week. Wanpack is probably as good a guess as any.
We still haven't really cracked what Takamura's style is right? They haven't shown up since Tate's last episode, so maybe it's them?

EDIT: Someone pointed out to me that in the video on that article that the cut of 17 from the opening is longer. I wonder how much animation they ended up having to shave off of the opening and if it will ever be used in some way.

Ooh, that all looks so good! :o Now I'm even more excited! Seems we're getting some pure, uncorrected Tate action. Hopefully we'll finally get a cut that comes close to some of his best One Piece work, although that might be a bit too optimistic.

Considering what Tate and Wanpack were able to do with #38 back when the schedule was way worse than it seems to be now, I'm really curious to see what they'd be able to manage now.

Oh, sorry! Hopefully the comparisons will at least be useful to someone else, then.

Don't worry about it, I'd rather unneeded helpfulness than someone being rude or something!

EDIT: Episode 55 had a relatively small staff and Takamura was a supervisor on that episode, but provided no animation, and there are some shots that look similar to the unknown style in 86.

I'd go through some more episodes that Takamura is on to see if I find more like this, but since we're so close to the new episode I'm not going to bother.

Oh my god, what the fuck happened with Yamamuro's Universe 12 GoD design? It's hilariously bad.
Image
The musculature on his Jiren design is uncharacteristic of Yamamuro, interesting.

Very simple, I like it.

I hope it looks better on screen because  . Why is he wearing shorts?
I'm just a DB fan that's in the grey area that exists between an Hardcore Fanboy and a Casual :P

He looked fine in the only close up he had in the exhibition, so the head shots on his character design sheet must be better.

Promotional video for the upcoming episode

https://youtu.be/9dnK6oWPwso

They are really pushing this hard. I am pretty sure this is gonna be a solid episode, plus Tate's work on 79 was lighter than usual and it was partly outsourced.

Those shots are amazing, that fist clash in the sunset 8)
Goku and 17 looking like they're talking about something deep in that last part, I LOVE IT!
This'll probably be the best out of all the scouting eps.

Great trailer! Ever since Karasawa left, are there any new animators in the regular team yet?
PS: They spelled android as "Andoroid" in the trailer, must be the accent.
Feel free to correct me if I say something wrong.

They have definitely misspelled. They even misspelled Capsule corp in the first episode of the Potafeau arc, but they rectified it in the BD release.

Ōshitsu Kyōshi Heine.
I found artwork he did that was in AniMedia, but I can't find any details on his actual work on the show. Is the show a single cour? If so it's possible he finished his work on that show already or is nearing finishing it, and the current arc of Super could go well past the current cour.
I think the Battle Royale is probably going to start in late May or early June and last a few episodes, but I also don't think it will actually end up being the end game of the arc. Shida not working on Dragon Ball right now but saying he's going to be returning makes me think this even more. I wouldn't be surprised if say Shida started work on a Super episode in a week or two and that episode aired at the end of June, Takahashi Yuya could probably start work on an episode around the same time, maybe in early May.
He told me episode 9 so we won't see his name for this month's issue, maybe next month? Episode 1: 2 animation supervisors and 2 Chief animation supervisors, Episode 2: 1 animation supervisors and 2 Chief animation supervisors. Seems like an average schedule but there are many cases where shows start off fine but crash near the end lol.

Toei is really hyping up the next episode. Going to highball and say we'll get some of Tate's best work this episode, fingers crossed xD.
