Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 84

Yong-ce Tu posted some information about his work on episode 81 (well, he wrote #82, but then spoke about #81, so I guess that was a mistake).
Image
Bit of background for anyone who may not know: Yong-ce Tu's a 2nd KA, so his job is to clean up and/or finish the work of the KAs. In this particular tweet, he's talking about the Higashide scenes he did.

While I'm waiting on a proper translation, from what I've gathered, he's saying that he had a week to clean up the work, almost didn't make it, and in the end Masahiro Shimanuki provided a significant correction to fix up the rotation.

Side-note: They also posted this as a reply to someone's screenshots from the NEP for #86.
Image
He said something along the lines of it being a shame the face was so shrouded. He then posts the genga for comparison. Can't source this one directly for you guys since it requires an account, but yeah. Not too sure if he was just cleaning up some Higashide stuff again and happened to have a nice key on hand, or whether this is actually his work.

Either way, it's pretty cool!

-Question about the sound effects-

They have improved, but why were they underwhelming in the first place? Did the lack of pre-production affected that departament too, or is Mutsuhiro Nishimura just getting better?
Also, even if Hidenori Arai is working in One Piece now and assuming Toei really wanted, couldn't they reuse the old sound effects like they did with the last two Movies?
Don't they have the rights?!
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

He himself worked in BOG and ROF. We got a new Sound effects person in DBS. He is too busy to work on two long running shows.

Indeed. What's the deal with Android 17? I don't remember he being that popular.

The moment Krillin forced Goku to go SSJ and pushed SSJB's KHH back even for a moment was already a big slap to my face, nothing will surprise me anymore, they can do whatever the hell they want, SSJB Goku lose to 17 go ahead, SSJB Goku lose to Buff Roshi mafuuba clash go ahead. The only saving grace now is like you said the animation, I can get pass the power level BS they've been doing so long as we get amazing animation and fights.

We were not planning on having a long discussion about it, if you didnt notice both of us agree'd that the animation is the saving grace for it.

I am pretty sure that extra cuts which never made it to the OP will be used in TOP. Their background helps too.

The musculature on his Jiren design is uncharacteristic of Yamamuro, interesting.
Image
Very simple, I like it.
Given that his universe is exempt he probably won't figure much I think it is understandable Yamamuro was a bit sloppy with it.

Really ? I agree that they took too much liberty with the Kuririn fight but it was still OK. It wasn't that ridiculous. Sometimes such debates take away from the actual content or character development that happens in such episodes. Sometimes taking liberties can worsen the experience but in 84 's case it wasn't bad, though I agree they could have handled it better. Plus, even if Goku is fighting in SSB in 86 so what ?! You cannot jump to conclusion from one frame. Let's wait and see what happens.

Just when I thought Tu Yeong-chaek is probably nothing special, he starts posting gengas. It is good to know who is behind what though.

Well yeah one of the reasons why I'm excited for the upcoming one, not exactly for that reason but because of Goku and 17's interaction, plus the art of Goku in that shot was so beautiful, last time I've loved Goku's design was from Yuya Takahashi back in EP 13, that evil Goku smile.

Ashita DM'd me since he found it while looking at Pokémon stuff. I first saw the #86 genga on Facebook a few days back, but assumed it was fake based on the person who posted it. When I hopped on the site following Ashita's message, I saw the username and watermark were the same across both images, so I went digging. Didn't take too long to find!

I don't know if you guys spotted this, but it looks like Toei added some screen shaking effect + animated the background during this part of the Vegeto vs Zamasu fight.

Oh hey, they fixed that part of Shida's cut that I criticised in my video. Taking full responsibility~
