Get the writers of KOTOR 2 on board, they were one of the few EU materials with unique ideas that didn't end in "AND NOW WE HAVE A NEW SUPER-DUPER PLANET-BUSTING WEAPON THAT'S TOTES BETTER THAN THE DEATH STAR!"

Yeah, a lot of post-ROTJ stuff kind of fell into that trap, although Thrawn's trilogy didn't by virtue of making the McGuffin just a large fleet of ships that let him overwhelm the fledgling Republic and not a big doomsday device.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't just a large fleet of ships (Wasn't the entire foundation of the story based on the fact that the Republic had the Imperials on the run, and now the Imperials had little in numbers in comparison), wasn't Thrawn specifically looking for Sidious's vault of goodies? Which were probably super weapons of some kind (Maybe some of Vitiate's world eating rituals are in there...).

It was a large fleet of ships and tanks used to grow Clones so he can not only have a massive navy but grow a quick and highly efficient army to man them. Besides that, there is no Death Star type McGuffin in the Thrawn trilogy. The closest thing to one is a cloaking device for smaller ships that isn't useful for much more than stealing shit while the enemy is distracted.

You should wait for the real movie instead of drawing conclusions based on a teaser. Even though TFA was a cash grab movie played for nostalgia (ANH copy) I don't think they will do the same thing in its sequel, they probably will pick up some ideas from EU though

Because it's really annoying that the so-called tie ins have actual good and interesting storytelling happening but the movies remain blander than Thor The Dark World. Seriously, who's ass do I have to nuke so a SW movie finally amounts to something?
