Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
This chapter was a bit condensed for my tastes, but I liked it. I don't get why people feel like they were let down by the non-appearance of Gogeta (I mean, isn't it like denying it was wishful thinking in the first place?).
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I think the manga did this part better. For one I like how Goku and Vegeta are completely outmatched while Zamasu is against Vegetto. It makes everything from a power level point of view make more sense compared to the anime where everyone was on the same level, before and after fusion.
I would've liked to see Goku and Vegeta work together but what we got was handled pretty well. I also think the fights were a bit short.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I have to say that Merged Zamasu in the manga was rather boring. Most of his attacks in this chapter are bland attacks like throwing Katchin blocks around and that human extinction esque attack he used. I prefer the anime version of Merged Zamasu as the halo of light effectively conveys his godly presence and standing which then eventually devolves into a hideous gooish form of monstrosity. Seeing his gradual downfall from his godly and angelic presence to an unstable barbaric psycho was interesting and entertaining as it was a reflection of his fall from grace. In the manga though, he was already a psychotic brute to begin with.

Seeing how they portrayed Black and Zamasu there were you still expect something better for Merged Zamasu?Freeza9000 wrote:I have to say that Merged Zamasu in the manga was rather boring. In the original manga Goku and Vegeta didn't fight Super Buu alone, they fused right away which is why he was at full health/strength.jplaya2023 wrote:It would seem weird that vegetto would need to take a senzu as the consensus has always been fusing into a new body restores your health. Yeah I gotta agree, #65 I think it pretty underrated it is best episode of the arc imo, and Gowasu speech in #66 about half faced Zamasu was surprisingly deep for DB, Atsuhiro Tomioka was a pretty good get, wish we had him in U6 arc then maybe that arc wouldn't have been so crap.Freeza9000 wrote:I have to say that Merged Zamasu in the manga was rather boring. I actually expected Merged Zamasu to be as bland as the portrayals of Black and Zamasu. I was just commenting on how bland his manga counterpart is compared to his anime counterpart.jeffbr92 wrote:Seeing how they portrayed Black and Zamasu there were you still expect something better for Merged Zamasu?Freeza9000 wrote:I have to say that Merged Zamasu in the manga was rather boring. I'd say episodes 47, 48, 56, 57, 61, and 67 were better episodes than 65. I also like the other episodes that I didn't mention. While 65 wasn't a completely bad episode, it's far from the best to me.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Yeah I gotta agree, #65 I think it pretty underrated it is best episode of the arc imo, and Gowasu speech in #66 about half faced Zamasu was surprisingly deep for DB, Atsuhiro Tomioka was a pretty good get, wish we had him in U6 arc then maybe that arc wouldn't have been so crap.Freeza9000 wrote:I have to say that Merged Zamasu in the manga was rather boring. If this Atsuhiro Tomioka was the same guy that wrote 66 and the nonsense in that episode, I wouldn't place so much faith in the guy. Though to be fair, he wrote great episodes like 47 and 61.

He wrote #47,48,49,50,51,55,58,60,61,65,66&67. I do not think it is fair at all to completely rebuff him cuz of a few spotty moments, his writing overall has been terrific we could have got something worse than the U6 arc or as generic as Toyo's rendition if not for him, plus Toriyama has gone through moment of poor writing but a lot of people still put faith in him.Freeza9000 wrote:I'd say episodes 47, 48, 56, 57, 61, and 67 were better episodes than 65. Tomioka definitely did better than Toyotarou (though I prefer King Ryû to them both). The anime of this was a lot more fun to watch.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Tomioka wrote what he was instructed by the then series director Hatano Morio while also taking references from Toriyama's outline. Tomioka mostly writes cool battle stuff and exposition and Hatano needed that cause the arc was structured like that and Hatano and the producers(if they were involved that is) structured it like that. Still, Hatano is the key player making all the creative decisions.
Writers in anime don't have as much creative control as much as people think they have. They're just there to finish a script and that too after the approval of the SD.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I have seen the latest chapter and it's a mediocre one, as the other chapters of this arc from Toyotaro.
The only things in this chapter I liked that I would have liked to see in the anime are:
- Trunks' line about Future Bulma. Really nice piece of dialogue
- Kaioshin comparing Vegetto's power to Beerus'. It would have been nice to get a direct comparision in the anime too
- Vegetto cutting Zamasu's arms off and delivering a epic line
As for everything else, anime episode 65 and 66 were a lot better than this chapter.
I wonder how Zamasu will be defeated in the manga, because it seems like in the anime Trunks will deal a finishing blow before Zeno completely wipes him out. I expect to see the Genki Dama sword in the manga too because it seems like too much of a big thing for it to be Toei's idea. Right now the only interest I have for the manga is too see the differences between it and the manga, and also the similarities.
By the way, I see no complains about Goku and Vegeta not getting damaged in their base by multiple attacks from Merged Zamasu. If it happened in the anime I bet there would be tons of videos of people enraged by "bad power scaling" and the episode thread on Kanzenshuu would have been locked because of all the rage and shit.
Is it because it's in a manga format so not many people notice? I believe the anime made a much better job at showcasing Goku and Vegeta's fight with Merged Zamasu and also threw Trunks there, which is a huge plus considering it was his arc.
I just can't stand how many people seem to criticize every single second of the anime while the manga gets a free pass on every error and mistake it does. It makes no sense for me. Where are the complains about the manga being Goku and Vegeta's show? Are there no complains just because the anime, which didn't have this problem, exists?

What do you mean "not getting damaged" and how is it any different than Cell Jrs kicking Z warrior butts or Buu vs base Vegeta?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
If you follow *Z's logic* an attack from a being that powerful would wipe out Goku and Vegeta in their base form (they aren't even much stronger than they were in Buu arc in the manga). Instead, they weren't that much damaged and even kept fighting.TheMikado wrote:emperior wrote:I have seen the latest chapter and it's a mediocre one, as the other chapters of this arc from Toyotaro.

Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed their fight against Zamasu in the manga and I don't care if they weren't wiped out by his attacks when in their base, but I see no one mention manga's bad power scaling and logic, while everything the anime does always gets criticized.

I don't think anyone can deny that the power scale is also fucked off in the manga, trough its still better than the anime's. I mean, BASE Vegetto was able to greatly damage Merged Zamasu.
English is not my first language. Please excuse my gramatical mistakes.

Was only able to find a few pages online, but from the raw, Vegetto seems to claim that Zamasu's fusion is also beholden to the one-hour time limit.
Does this come to bear in the rest of the chapter? Any full leaks (preferably raw) floating around?

The chapter ends with Vegetto defusing and Merged Zamasu charging in for the kill. So far, Vegetto's claim has not come trueCipher wrote:Was only able to find a few pages online, but from the raw, Vegetto seems to claim that Zamasu's fusion is also beholden to the one-hour time limit.

Worst part of the chapter is Goku and Vegeta treating it like a game.
