I think Gowasu was just emphasizing the importance of the object. Is Vegetto a god because he has Potara? No. As far as Gowasu understands it, there is some other procedure that needs to take place before Zamasu can be officially recognized as a Kaioshin.

Again, he could be wrong, so we'll see!

The answer is "no" only because Goku and Vegeta aren't Shinjins. There is this factor to be analyzed too.

Minor complaint but they way Toyo handles the Potara retcon was very poor, it was one of those "let's have someone conveniently say something important so our protagonists overhear" cliches, had Vegeta not been there that moment then everyone probably would have been obliterated.

But man I do freaking love his Merged Zamasu design! Really wish he would have sent that design to Toei and be like here use this.

Toyo next chapter should make Trunks go Ikari and have the Spirit Sword at the same time.... :P But seriously I think he will have Zamasu defuse have Trunks take out drained Black, Zamasu proves to be too much with his immortality and they call Zen-Oh. Let's just hope Toyo remembers to draw Trunks next chapter in the least...

Well, I've got to say that the fight between Vegito and Zamasu was better in the anime. I mean, I found it amazing how Vegito, for once, was actually using his full strenght from the start, something that had never happened in Z.

On the contrary, in the manga we basically have a reply of his fight with Buuhan. It makes sense, since F. Zamasu (manga) is waaaaaaaaay weaker than he is in the anime, thus making Merged Zamasu weaker, but I still prefer the anime.

This chapter is a 100x better than last month, positive
+,the battle between Merged zamasu and goku and vegeta is cool, the hth combat and art was great IMO, this is my favorite shot
those detailsImage
+vegito was awesome, his entrance was cool, the hand joke was just to cheesy  straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon, that's why I love it, and I Love his transformation
+Trunks speech was touching,I really like it, finally a father and son moment
+Merged zamasu was just over the top and hammy
            Negatives
-the fact that goku of all people went in with a 1 on 1, is so meh, what I like about the ft Trunk saga is, goku team up and put his saiyan pride aside but here,it was treated like a joke
-merged zamasu attack are underwhelming, the katchin is cool, but I wanted more
-vegito was short lived like his anime counterpart
-The art, while better than last month,it doesn't excuse how off it is,like look at Trunks, he looks young and Base vegito neck look weird, and Those homages are annoying
a 7/10, better than last month but It got some negative slowing it down what could have been a 10/10

I still expect to see some kind of Ki Sword used by Trunks in the manga. Maybe I'll be wrong, but it's weird how Dragonball Fusions added a completely different looking version of the attack for Super Trunks (Light Sword).

                      Image

It makes me think they added it based on Toriyama's outline without knowing how Toei would actually implement it. We'll see, I guess.

They're not just there for "coolness," but to actual enhance the drama and character-building. There's more I could've gone into, like Tenshinhan's life-draining, murder-focused Kikoho, which both tell you all you need to know about him.

That's what Zamas lacked. His big super move was there only to look cool. You could get into some meta commentary and say that it's ostentatious but generic to reflect Zamas being a cool concept for a character, but ultimately a shallow rendition of said concept. That, however, makes it even worse.
You make fair points. But I guess what I'm trying to get across is that throwing "generic" energy blasts hasn't stopped other character who use them from being worth while. Like with Freeza comes to mind.

TKA wrote:No, I've given them just the right amount of credit. In this series, they've only been used by gods. The more important part is Kaioshin create, and he's creating something (and not something made of ki) to hurl at them. He's a Saiyan and a God, and he's exhibiting both qualities using the series' established lore.

Also, each time I add that it's silly and not that big a deal, but it's way more thoughtful than anything the anime did with Zamas' moveset. Also bear in mind that I only brought this up because someone thought the Katchin-throwing was unimaginative and stupid.
I understand that we have only seen Kaioshin create (Summon?) them. But what I don't understand is why that makes it more thoughtful. It may have backstory, however small, but the presentation is still just Zamasu throwing what is, more or less, the universes hardest brick. Chucking building blocks is hardly what I'd call godly. It may have lore but it isn't much. Do we even know where it comes from? Is it something only Kaioshin can make/summon or is he just pulling it out of somewhere? I actually don't know.

TKA wrote:That would do a good job of it in any other series. Gods in dragonball don't run around with halos and angel wings. Zamas' shit is out of context. It's generic JRPG final boss nonsense that isn't making use of Dragonball's lore. This could've been fine if the attack wasn't just meant to look cool, while in essence being just a big ki blast. If this attack actually did something special that added to his character, then calling the manga's use of Katchin unimaginative and bad would have some actual basis.
Normal Gods don't run around with Halos or Wings. Self righteous gods like Zamasu who want to prove just how above it all he is, and doing it in the most immature way possible, totally comes off as a character who would give himself a Halo and make a big show with Giant bird person. It fits his personality of being over the top and ridiculous.

Also, I'm unsure if this is off discussion but, If we restricted characters to only use things based off already established lore we'd never get anything new. New lore has to come from some where.

For the all the shit that people give Goku and Vegeta not taking fights seriously in the anime, that scenario in the manga was far worse than anything has done so far. Why they hell would they think fighting Zamasu individually would work? They pulled this stunt in Resurrection F and the Majin Boo arc, and I really didn't like it in either of those scenarios because it undercuts the tension of the battle by making the protagonists seems like idiots and actively giving the antagonist a chance to win. I can at least tolerate those two instances because Goku and Vegeta had no idea how strong Kid Boo and Freeza were. But the scenario with Merged Zamasu inexcusable. Merged Zamasu literally kicked their buts at the same time with little effort, and they still would think it would be a good idea to turn down fusion and then take turns in him fighting him? Morons. Absolute morons they are. As well as total blood knights. Future Trunks and Gowasu should have slapped the shit out of both of them for doing that. And Supreme Kai should have torn into them like no tomorrow for pulling this shit again. Because it's obvious the are really not taking this whole scenario seriously and still treat it like a game.

Other than that, as I've said before, the hand-to-hand fight choreography was nice, the art as usual was great and of course Vegetto returning was nice. But I just can't help bult feel how less spectacular the whole battle is with Merged Zamasu against everyone else. Toyotaro also really needs to cut down on the homages, too. It once every once in a while but there were a bit too many in this chapter for my liking. It just seemed a bit uncreative on his part.

While the power logic was all kinds of muddled in the anime, it made up for it with moments of that felt really grand and visually pleasing. Regardless, I appreciate that the manga is taking the more power/strength logical approach to the story, even if makes the narrative and grandeur of the battles far less interesting. And even if the manga itself can get a bit shaky with the power scaling at times.

I liked that Merged Zamasu used more Kaioshin-like techniques, but I really wished he would have been more unique with his abilities and techniques like he was in the anime. I mean, surely there's way more he could do than just spam Katchin?

Vegetto's return and fight with Merged Zamasu was shot but was sweet, just like in the anime. And Vegetto's fashion of him cutting off Merged Zamasu's hands was awesome and the highlight of the whole chapter.

The speech from Future Trunks to Vegeta about Bulma was nice but felt a bit unnecessary. Especially to serve as motive for Vegeta to fuse with Goku. But the intent was very well founded emotionally given the nature of Future Trunks' relationship with Vegeta and Bulma.

The chapter was alright but really disappointing in some areas.

EDIT: Hooray!! Vegerot is still a thing.
I believe that no matter how much the universe depended on it, Goku just wanted to accept Vegeta's decision because he knows how proud he is and would never want to merge again.

Considering this, their only option was to fight even if they had no chance. As usual from Saiyajins who neither fused wanted, they still fought separately. In the fight against Golden Freeza, Vegeta also realized that Goku was inferior and was losing. So he did not want to enter the fight. I agree that it was strange mainly because of Vegeta's personality change, but considering the Saiyajin war bag of them, it is common

Another little nitpick I have with the current chapter: Why did Goku lie to Trunks about having no more energy left to go Blue after the Mafuba? I mean clearly he did. There's even a little panel where Trunks questions this. So random. :|

It wasn't necessarily a lie, he transformed in a time of desperation. It's entirely probable that he wouldn't have lasted long at all, but he and Vegeta fused and ate the last Senzu before we got a chance to see.

But he did not have the energy to go full power on SSB. It was a moment of desperation, in which he tried to attack Gattai Zamasu with everything he had

Aw man...so the retconning nonsense was in the MANGA too?! Blast...oh well. At least Toyotaro gave us a chance to breath by having the Vegito vs. Zamasu fight have it's own chapter, rather than cramming everything into one episode like Super did.

It looks better than some of Toyotaro's art, but Toyotaro seems to be rushing these chapters, it shows in the art style, if not, his art is pretty great and my preferred one

Yep. I wrote this already (somewhere else), but: It may be surprising, but it's also consistent. Viz always called him that.
