-

I actually have basically nothing to say. It was kind of a nothing episode. Manabe's half was fine, with some decent action. Kitano was hugely cleaned up by Ide, so he didn't really standout in any negative way. It was all fine.

I'm much more interested in next week's episode. Hiroyuki Itai was plain to see towards the end of the preview there, so it's nice to see him being trusted with a pretty big looking episode. Studio Wanpack are definitely involved too, as I can see Kinoshita's style there at the beginning.

I'm gonna be doing these every week anyway, so we may as well work together via PM instead of rushing out incomplete lists.

The base form Gohan clash in the NEP was Kinoshita, correct?

No higashide streak is now the longest since he appeared in #42. I am hoping he is going to deliver something really juicy.

Wanpack did the Gohan vs Lavenda fight right?

If so then I'm definitely looking forward to next episode, mostly because I want to see a good Piccolo fight, the one vs Frost wasnt that good.

Ajay: Well, if you're doing it every week, it's great! I was just scared you were sleeping because this episode was sooooo booooriiiing haha (and i didn't see you connected too, that's why i rushed things).

From now on, i'm just gonna record the staff list in case you're not here or busy, just do it!

Oh, and do you have any idea about next week? I know it's Itai, but is he paired up? Woops, didn't read your entire post, sorry. :D

If he's not on next week's episode then I feel pretty confident in saying that he's working on the tournament. If he shows up next week then that's still 4 weeks, which would be pretty big for him, if he doesn't show up again until the tournament then that's at least 9 weeks between episodes for him, which would probably mean some pretty awesome stuff.

The animation was ok, nothing bad or great,it was a mediocre episode honestly aside from #17 and goku interaction,I can't think of another good thing about this ep
    Next week looks ok,I think is the Same guy from ep 80,I want some good action for Piccolo and gohan

    This week's episode looked weak in every way. So next episode will be done by the ones who did Gohan vs Lavender huh? That episode was the second best animated episode of the enitre series imo(after 66). It doesn't look as good judging from the preview, but they've still got a week.

    Sort of. While Studio Wanpack were on that episode, it's really Toei's own staff like Manabe, Higashide, and Miuma that we owe our thanks to for that one. Wanpack are very much a support studio, so while they may produce some good stuff, or even have talented animators of their own, I wouldn't see them as something too premium.

    At a guess, it'll probably be the Toei staff working with Hiroyuki Itai that produce the good stuff next week. Though admittedly, what we did see from Kinoshita (the main supervisor for Wanpack's Super episodes) didn't look too bad.

    Kitano art didn't look rough in 87,is an indication he didn't rush this one

    Don't know about how much he had to rush, but as Ajay said he was heavily corrected by Ide. So his work was still probably what it usually is.

    This is a really weird nose;
Image
Probably someone from Wanpack.
    One the flip side, I wonder who drew this really nice Piccolo;
Image
Itai is nice as always, can't wait to see him get 8 or more weeks on an episode.
Image
My only real complaint is his ear placement from the side.
Image
If he put it a bit lower it'd be perfect;

    I thought this episode would be pretty meh from reactions, but it wasn't that bad. There was some interesting action, and I didn't really notice any bad shots. Hate to say it, but this episode looked better than a lot of super before the FT arc.

    I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

    Shouldn't the bang be like this?:
Image
I think they haven't quite figured out how to draw it correctly lol

    The bang can be drawn on either side, it also makes sense to draw it where they did since he turns his head to the side the bang is on.

    I mean, you're not wrong, the episode visually is better than a lot of Super's older episodes, but it's not as good as the other episodes this arc and more importantly it was just kind of a boring episode.

    I actually disagree. His high-placed ears are my favourite trait. The long jaws and high ears were pretty common back in Z from my favourite supervisors. It's nice to see them return.

    Wasn't the head generally taller in general when the jaws were long in Z?

    It's more that the lower part of the jaw was much smaller, making the angle and general length of the upper jaw more extreme and lengthy.

    Nowadays, it's much wider and shorter, and so everything ends up looking round.

    Thoughts on these two shots of Piccolo from the NEP?

    They're kinda sorta off model, but I like them.

    He looks more human, I dont really see him off model.

    Off model was in the U6 arc when he was looking a goblin or skinny Shrek.
