Putting The Kikuchi score back in Kai
So from what I've read the Kikuchi score was placed into the last 2 episodes that aired on Japanese TV for the first run of Kai 96+97
I don't know how far along Japanese dvd releases of Kai had got to before the scandal.
But my question comes from the Funimation releases with the old soundtrack. Did the Japanese releases have to get altered to accommodate the new soundtrack and funimation just followed their lead, or did Toei tell funimation what tracks to use when?

Our "Kenji Yamamoto Retrospective" has a handy graphic showing where the Japanese broadcast vs. home release was at in terms of the musical score, and then also where FUNimation's first run of the home release was at:

FUNimation would not have handled any musical placement themselves on the home release; those materials would have been provided directly by Toei.
The only questionable responsibility I can think of are a few key scenes in the Nicktoons broadcast post-plagiarism announcement where Yamamoto music was still being used, but reruns would use a different piece of Yamamoto music (namely to remove "Ebb and Flow").

The only Kikuchi cues used were the ones that had been digitized long ago. It's unclear whether his complete DB archive (444, give or take a few) has been digitized now.

What is the source of the 444 number?DB1984 wrote:It's unclear whether his complete DB archive (444, give or take a few) has been digitized now.

Wasn't Zestanor talking about episodes? (153 + 291 = 444)DB1984 wrote:viewtopic.php?f=12&t=22803&start=40#p751575
Kikuchi's complete DB archive would be something around 430 music pieces + another 430 for DBZ. Imagine Kai with ~860 BGM database and Shigeru Miyashita as music selector...
