Do you expect a major death happening in this arc?Ki Breaker wrote:A thing occurred to me..
Super sucks at showing deaths..
Freeza was just meh, we have seen that before in the movie..
Tagoma had the most uninteresting death in anime history in my opinion..
Merged Zamasu was, alright I guess, but the way it happened with genki sword totally took it's charm away..

Not only one but many of our cast will die
If falling in the void can be considered "death" then it dosen't even remain a speculation, surely not every member will remain on stage

Consider a situation like this, black isn't known to be goku, inuniverse ( better yet out too )..
We see the "new evil" grab bulma, and trunks is told to run, he dosen't and blasts a full power attack, smoke clears , we cut to bulma looking up to see him and there she finds goku staring back at her..
In the moment of disbelief to both viewers and bulma herself, he crushes her throat in one go and her lifeless body falls down, neck bent another way..
This would have been really well done and pretty brutal first on screen kill for balck..
Instead we got a shadow.. not remain a shadow anymore..... of sorts..
Truthfully, her death was only somewhat effective because we already knew and liked her as a character..
If it was a random civilian death which happened like that, it would be completely non memorable

At least, unlike the manga, it had the balls to show it. Wave it off like it's no big deal, now THAT was bad.Ki Breaker wrote:Future bulma could have been made much better..ArchedThunder wrote:Zamasu is debatable.Ki Breaker wrote:A thing occurred to me..

Killing someone in this series isn't a ballsy thing to show at all, and the manga didn't pretend that it never happened. I did enjoy Bulma's death scene in the anime, but this is a disingenuous account of both versions.Araki wrote:At least, unlike the manga, it had the balls to show it. Just mentioning it is still shrugging it off. Bulmas death scene WAS brutal. The anime has shown Gohan being tortured by Freeza, Vegeta Goku and Trunks getting stabbed brutally, Merged Zamasu getting cut in half . What has the manga done ?The gr wrote:true, the Manga did not shrug off Bulma death,it was mentioned recentlyJinzoningen MULE wrote:Killing someone in this series isn't a ballsy thing to show at all, and the manga didn't pretend that it never happened. The Manga have black brutally beating up Trunks in 21 Wich frieza torturing pails in comparison to it don't get me wrong, the frieza torturing scene was well made and it was the best scene in DBS rof and that shot of gowasu with no pupil's, puking up blood and mz having his arm blown up to pieces, shin having his neck snapped in chap 16, gowasu getting stabbed and zamasu getting impaled, yeah This product is nothing to laugh at in terms of violence, and how mentioned a death means shrugging it offkinisking wrote: Just mentioning it is still shrugging it off. I forgot the Gowasu part, that was truly Brutal. Same with the Trunks scenes. I actually legitimately forgot about the Shin scene. I don't remember that at all. I'll have to reread for that one. Anyways, you've convinced me the manga can be brutal. I still think the anime can be pretty brutal. It just has a lack of blood. The gr wrote:The Manga have black brutally beating up Trunks in 21 Wich frieza torturing pails in comparison to it don't get me wrong, the frieza torturing scene was well made and it was the best scene in DBS rof and that shot of gowasu with no pupil's, puking up blood and mz having his arm blown up to pieces, shin having his neck snapped in chap 16, gowasu getting stabbed and zamasu getting impaled, yeah This product is nothing to laugh at in terms of violence, and how mentioned a death means shrugging it offkinisking wrote: Just mentioning it is still shrugging it off. agreed,is just lack blood, but I'm ok with the frieza scene because the dialogue was great and the atmosphere was tense, and mz getting sliced while laughing was disturbing to say at least.kinisking wrote:I forgot the Gowasu part, that was truly Brutal. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
The manga is usually more brutal than the anime of any adaptation. The same was true back in the original Dragon Ball days. Go back and watched Freeza's genocide of Dende's village in the manga. It is far more brutal than the anime, which was already brutal. I also disagree that Black beating Trunks was worse than what Freeza did to Gohan. The only different was that Trunks was bleeding, but other than that it was a normal beat up scene, nothing special. Merged Zamasu losing limbs is also ho-hum since just grows them back like Buu and Cell. The anime had Goku blow Future Zamasu's head off and it just vapor right back. Future Zamasu was also impaled several times in the anime, so not sure why the manga is getting points for that. The same with Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks who all got impaled at least once and Merged Zamasu got sliced in half from the groin up.
And honestly you don't need blood and violent to be disturbing. One of the most brutal scenes in the anime was Black killing Chi-Chi and Goten. You don't even see him killing them, but the cut away and scream leaves viewers with the idea of what happened, which can actually be worst than actually seeing the act. how it was a normal beating up scene if black skull bashed trunks to the ground and using his telekinesis pushing him ground and throwed them to the buildingHeroR wrote:The manga is usually more brutal than the anime of any adaptation. That skull bash wasn't even that brutal. If we seen Trunks' skull actually caving in or something, that would be a different story. And he gets thrown a build, so what. Vegeta smashed Black through several buildings and in their second battle, Vegeta beat Black into a building until it crumbled. The gr wrote: how it was a normal beating up scene if black skull bashed trunks to the ground and using his telekinesis pushing him ground and throwed them to the buildingThat's cool someone is using tropes, Black killing chi chi was scary because we don't know how it happened, that is a cool trope

I wonder if they are gonna cut to Goten and Trunks on the Island as our "intermission(s)" from the tournament. I wouldn't exactly be opposed to it tbh...
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I can't really imagine them not doing that. It's not necessarily a bad thing to do it, it can serve to slow things down after an intense action scene, but I'm afraid it'll end up like the filler during Goku vs. Frieza back in the Z days.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:I wonder if they are gonna cut to Goten and Trunks on the Island as our "intermission(s)" from the tournament. The lack of blood ruins pretty much all of these. Especially the Gohan scene. "Oh no! The question is, will it be wise to cut viewer away from (hopefully) intense action and suspense to watching 2 kids being immature..Baggie_Saiyan wrote:I wonder if they are gonna cut to Goten and Trunks on the Island as our "intermission(s)" from the tournament. It would have been like
Black impaled Vegeta! Shit! What do we d- oh here's gohan studying for 1/2 an episode with occasional baby pan.. yay?

You bring him a good point actually it could definitely feel like that. If the ToP is 2 and bit eps long (48 mins in real time) then there wouldn't be a need for much cut aways, considering we won't start until June at the earliest I think that may be a possibility.Alruneia wrote:I can't really imagine them not doing that. Yeah I kinda released the flaw in that suggestion now lol, but I would still prefer that to the typical cutaway reactions.Ki Breaker wrote:The question is, will it be wise to cut viewer away from (hopefully) intense action and suspense to watching 2 kids being immature..Baggie_Saiyan wrote:I wonder if they are gonna cut to Goten and Trunks on the Island as our "intermission(s)" from the tournament. I actually think that's the one that's least affected. Freeza's beams were clearly burning their insides and cauterizing the wounds. You can see Piccolo's burnt insides when he dies.TekTheNinja wrote:The lack of blood ruins pretty much all of these. Especially the Gohan scene. "Oh no!
