BlueBasilisk wrote:That's one thing I love about Tori's "villains." Most of them have pretty simple, basic designs. Jiren is just a grey alien who's more shredded than a bag of cheese. With Toei you get villains like Janemba or Hirudegarn or Omega Shenron who have a lot of spikes and segmented armor.SansrivaaL wrote:I like his design as well, its so simple yet intimidating, never got those vibes from Hit.
I would not say Freeza's non-true and golden form or Cell look all that simple. There is a lot going on with their design. Final Janemba is really not more complex. And Hirudegarn and Super Yi Xing Long are pretty much on the same complexity level as Cell.

100% Freeza? or Boo when he absorbed one of the kai's.Big Black Saiyan wrote:Jiren looks so buff. When's the last DB character design that has a character like him? :p
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I agree on Jiren having a bland design. Toriyama is known for his simple designs, but what make most of them stand out is that they look very appealing (like Pure Boo, for example). I don’t really get the same vibes from Jiren; he looks very uninteresting to me.
I’m looking forward to his personality, though (hopefully, he won’t be another stoic-type guy like Hit).

I wonder if he will be as interesting as Hit, because Hit's design is much better than Jiren and his gimmick is fucking awesome.Legion wrote:This Jiren is basically Hit of this tournament.Bandai are really pushing Jiren, more gashapons...

That is why I am not a fan a Hit at all, he is all gimmick, strip that away you have a nothing character. Even then I don't think his design is all that too tbh. I have never been so disappointed in a character before, Jiren is at least getting more of proper build up instead of Hit's build up just him sitting their ominously. Design wise I don't hate nor like Jiren so for me if he's interesting as a character and interesting when it comes to fighting then I'm good.emperior wrote:I wonder if he will be as interesting as Hit, because Hit's design is much better than Jiren and his gimmick is fucking awesome.Legion wrote:This Jiren is basically Hit of this tournament.Bandai are really pushing Jiren, more gashapons...

I said "most" because of Cell being the major outlier. He's way more complex visually than the other main villains (partly because of his speckle pattern). You are right about Frieza 1-3 though. I was just thinking about his final form.Cetra wrote:I would not say Freeza's non-true and golden form or Cell look all that simple. There is a lot going on with their design. I don't really consider Janemba complex...one of my fave designs actually.
Toriyama does however have undisputedly simple designs. I actually like Jirens look though, I like the simple grey alien thing and that shot into his eye in the intro is epic.

While I do like Hit and I think there is more to him then some give him credit for, the scene with him in U6 as so good moments. However characters like Hit, Kanshiro and Jotaro, benefit from a larger caste to play off of and develop around. Hit who is not even a member of the main caste suffers greatly because of this.
Also since Hit did technically did beat Goku in the last tournament and Goku can know match him as SSB alone.....well you know what happens to "Last Tournaments Champion" in Dragon Ball. I'm beating that vile assassin will be defeated by the noble hero of Universe 11, Jiren the Gray.

I really hope they won't ruin Hit. He will probably go down but I hope he won't be made a joke and I also want him to beat many fighters using his time-skip.Lord Frieza wrote:While I do like Hit and I think there is more to him then some give him credit for, the scene with him in U6 as so good moments. Besides Hit, the other fighters who also have high chance in jobbing to Jiren the Gray.Lord Frieza wrote:While I do like Hit and I think there is more to him then some give him credit for, the scene with him in U6 as so good moments. 17: He is Blue level based on his sparring with Goku and he was holding back.
Gohan: He will reach Blue level and maybe force Goku use Kaioken in episode 90, fans better pray he doesnt get to face Jiren or he will job hard.
Vegeta: He always jobs to the main antagonist.
Bergamo: He lost to Kaioken Goku, and Jiren 1 shotting him with barely putting effort would also be a good way to hype him.

They're building Gohan up the same way Trunks was in the Zamasu arc, so I definitely see Gohan getting a huge shining moment by the end of the saga. Something similar to Trunks nearly killing Zamasu with Gohan being one of the last fighters standing in the tournament.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Or maybe no one will job this time? we already know that Jiren is the strongest in this arc (well, after Gods/angels of course)....

Yeah, Gohans getting his shine for sure this arc, there's very less chance of this not happening..precita wrote:They're building Gohan up the same way Trunks was in the Zamasu arc, so I definitely see Gohan getting a huge shining moment by the end of the saga. That being said, I hope his shining moment isn't like Trunks's genki sword, I would rather see him get destroyed by jiren than have something like done to his character

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Well eventually by the end of the tournament there's only going to be one main character left standing, against one opponent character from the other universes. I'd actually think it would be interesting if it's not Goku this time, since he had the Champa tournament final round.Legion wrote:Or maybe no one will job this time? we already know that Jiren is the strongest in this arc (well, after Gods/angels of course)....
Piccolo bringing up Gohan's arrogance as to why he got absorbed by Buu, and let Cell self destruct instead of killing him early, is signs Gohan will make it to the end, maybe even be the final victor.
