Two Broly movies, from FUNi, coming to Blu-Ray.

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Actually, there is a term: The 4:3 versions are an "open matte transfer." The 16:9 versions are "matted" or "masked" to widescreen. The animation was framed in a manner so that this would actually be the Original Aspect Ratio. Many films are actually matted to achieve their desired OAR, therefore if the DragonBall films are "cropped" then so are many major films :P

I'm going to their panel tomorrow. If there's any questions you guys want me to ask post them on here.

If I were there I would just confront them about their marketing tactics in regards to the season sets. Pointing out the obvious lies and the stuff that they randomly pulled out of their ass. (I know they're just con reps, but maybe they'll pass it up the chain o' command that people don't like being blatantly lied to.)

Some visual aids would really be helpful to prove you point, though unless they're in a backpack, they would be very cumbersome to carry around.

Visual aids could be some screen caps for comparing.

I'm just throwing some shit out there though.

Have they hinted at releasing the entire series in this fashion?

Not at all. I was at their panel at Comic-Con yesterday and the only 2 DBZ things mentioned were the Blu-Ray thing and season 3, both of which were mentioned sorta passively. They will probably head in that direction eventually though.

The commercial said that they'd be "presented consistently from beginning to end on DVD". Once they stop, they'll probably jump to Blu-Ray.

Are they for serious? These two movies are really the best-sellers of all the movies? Can this really be possible? Can someone kill me, please, right now? The most retarded, uncreative, redundant villain of all time sells the most movies in North America?

No amount of therapy can ever make this alright.

I'm gonna get it to see what we can expect of funi's blu ray releases

I would have loved if it was movies 7 & 9, or 12 & 13. Even though these have no connection, I feel they would sell better because the people have blu ray, like myself, are not the "kids" who love broly so much.
I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one.

Season sets.

Incomplete 100 or so volume release.

Many other things.

You needn't therapy, Duo. You need to basically jump ship, and make your own way through this.
