That's assuming he does surpass Goku, which is quite possible but you're right. I'm excited for the tag match. Tenshinhan actually being in this is a bit more interesting. However since it's a tag match, I expect Gohan and Piccolo to have the edge here. I'm more excited for Goku personally requesting to fight Gohan one-on-one.Lapislettuce wrote:Watch the people who complained about 17 being ssb tier when he trained over a decade be totally okay with Gohan surpassing Goku in less than a day, classic db fanbase.

Goku will beat Gohan as he will still not have that warrior like mentality.
Piccolo to match Goku in SSB and Tien to match Gohan in Ultimate as Super is trying to bring everyone to are equal level, which is the right thing to do.

Anything but this... no more "Everybody is SSJB level" Goku has been dicking around too much, I mean I know he likes holding back, its the same guy that was cocky enough to hold back against Beerus who one touched K.O'd him but still, enough is enough, its cute to boost their confidence, but what exactly can having them be cocky to think "I lasted against SSJB Goku, I got this!" type of thinking help them? that is dangerous, they should know honestly where they stand, not trick them.namekiansaiyan wrote: Piccolo to match Goku in SSB and Tien to match Gohan in Ultimate as Super is trying to bring everyone to are equal level, which is the right thing to do.

Piccolo won't match Goku in SSB. He might do something like Krillin but he'll never be an equal match without a power up. Same with Tien and Gohan.

Well neither Piccolo nor Gohan should be thinking they "got this", even if they put up a fight against SSB, since there has been so much said about "not letting their guard down".SansrivaaL wrote:Anything but this... no more "Everybody is SSJB level" Goku has been dicking around too much, I mean I know he likes holding back, its the same guy that was cocky enough to hold back against Beerus who one touched K.O'd him but still, enough is enough, its cute to boost their confidence, but what exactly can having them be cocky to think "I lasted against SSJB Goku, I got this!" type of thinking help them? that is dangerous, they should know honestly where they stand, not trick them.namekiansaiyan wrote: Piccolo to match Goku in SSB and Tien to match Gohan in Ultimate as Super is trying to bring everyone to are equal level, which is the right thing to do.
I also wonder, if tien stacks up against ultimate gohan, does that put him near buu in power scaling, or have we yet to see a full picture of buu's power?
This should be interesting.

Whether Gohan surpasses Goku or not (up in the air right now), I definitely feel like he's going to give Goku a decent fight in their one-on-one. I'm honestly more hyped for that than the tag match.kinisking wrote:If Gohan doesn't have the warrior like mentality then Piccolo's a horrible teacher.namekiansaiyan wrote:Goku will beat Gohan as he will still not have that warrior like mentality.

Yeah, it'll obviously be a good match. They wouldn't hype it up otherwise. I don't think Gohan surpassed Goku at all from a strength perspective. However, the might make him abuse Goku's weakness of letting his guard down to show Gohans growth.TheMathemagician wrote:Whether Gohan surpasses Goku or not (up in the air right now), I definitely feel like he's going to give Goku a decent fight in their one-on-one. He went from getting his ass kicked by base black to blocking a blow from him when the latter was in ssjr as a ssj2 when the attack was intended for blue goku
And accomplish getting there by getting his ass beat by vegeta in there training.
So I don't see the difference here.

This is true. Again, new form with an unknown multiplier vs. a state that Gohan had for decades. And Trunks only did that by catching Black off-guard. He literally never touched Black again after that until he got Rage.pacz360 wrote:[

Exactly as people pointed it out, Trunks reached SSJB tier after training with Blue Vegeta, why cant Gohan reach that tier after training with Blue Goku?
If Gohan becomes the strongest of U7, then it increases the chances he fights Jiren in the Top, he jobs in order to hype Goku who should unleash his new transformation

I'm sure an attack that had goku shitting himself for moment should cleave trunks like butter not to mention briefly traded blows before kicking him into a building so where is him being off guard there?HeroR wrote:Again, new form with an unknown multiplier vs. a state that Gohan had for decades. All of our heroes are going into this tournament at their very best. Piccolo got his due this week, looks like Tien will next week, and then the two of them fighting it out in two! As a Piccolo and Tien fan, I could not be more jazzed right now. Gohan is more of an "eh, whatever" to me, but if he gets to do something cool, then more power to him. At least now it feels like he's earned that power by being put through a "Make a Man Out of You" montage by Piccolo instead of having it handed to him because of latent potential.
I hope the next couple episodes follow up on Cabba recruiting Caulifla so we can put that particular argument to bed. I've been following the debate elsewhere and people have been getting really nasty about it.

Gohan will be around goku's level but won't be above him.

Goku and Tien teaming up? When have we EVER seen that? Those two rarely interact. That is shocking. Great, but shocking.
Rest in peace the Goku and Vegeta show, and good riddance. I'm loving this.

Goku would not mess around with Piccolo as Piccolo would know if he was.
This arc seems to be closing the gap between all the characters and that is good for the franchise's future as there will be a lot of variety in the fights that way. I don't care if it makes sense as going forward if it continues towards being about skill and technique then it will eventually become normal and people will not concentrate on power anymore so it will eventually make sense to most people in the fanbase.
Characters being left behind becuase of their power has always been my biggest complaint about Z and Super, so I feel being more like Dragon ball is the best thing Toriyama and Toei can do now and it should continue on this way.
Toei and Toriyama are actually listening and making the show a lot better now.omaro34 wrote:Goku and Tien teaming up? When have we EVER seen that? That is shocking. Great, but shocking.
