Can we convince FUNimation to make more Level sets?
Re: Can we convince FUNimation to make more Level sets?
I think they made huge mistake releasing them so soon, we just had Orange Bricks and Dragon Boxes, who, besides huge fans (like us
. would buy 3rd release of same show? Had they wait another year or two, and, i dont know, release The Movies first, I'm sure sales would be much better.

I think that we cannot convince FUNimation to spend heavy money on this kind of release. There is no market for it.
We would need to create the market and inform FUNimation about our desires, but nobody is interested in doing this (excluding me, Robo and sangofe
(at least, they are the ones I know about...))

They heard our desires back when they held a poll to see which aspect ratio was wanted for the season blurays and they went with 16:9 even though 4:3 won.Kojiro Sasaki wrote:I think that we cannot convince FUNimation to spend heavy money on this kind of release. There is no market for it.

Yeah plus it seemed like cropping was a last minute decision, in one of the footages from the earlier Z BD Season's in one of the extra's they were talking about the footage and they were showing the remaster in 4x3. Plus S2 ended up being delayed a month too. Had they not done the survey and did this then I'd understand it but the fact people told them 4x3 and they chickened last minute makes it hard to understand the decision.KentalSSJ6 wrote:They heard our desires back when they held a poll to see which aspect ratio was wanted for the season blurays and they went with 16:9 even though 4:3 won.Kojiro Sasaki wrote:I think that we cannot convince FUNimation to spend heavy money on this kind of release. Of course they heard our desires. Those were 16:9 digitally garbagized, (far from) modern-looking version. They didn't ignore the poll because they hate fans. They ignored it, because lazy 16:9 releases were cheap to produce and sold like crazy. Don't forget about this tweet: https://twitter.com/lheiskell/status/623695483081351169KentalSSJ6 wrote:They heard our desires back when they held a poll to see which aspect ratio was wanted for the season blurays and they went with 16:9 even though 4:3 won.
By the way... I remember somebody saying that there were some changes of people on decisive positions in FUNimation and the new crew decided to cancel the old “honest” project and start the new “modern” project.
Wasn't it Steve Franko himself who told it to some Kanzenshuu user who contacted him by email? (can somebody confirm it?)
There are to few of us. The only thing we can do is increase our number, keep telling companies what we want and then think about what to do next. Anybody interested? I guess not...
Re: Can we convince FUNimation to make more Level sets?
Can somebody explain to me in a nutshell how Dragon Ball audio was recorded for DB/Z/GT/Movies? I've heard that if I happen to put the Movies audio (from the Dragon Boxes) in a Dolby mastering software I will get a 5.1 track, is there any truth to this?

It cannot be explained in a nutshellDeli295 wrote:Can somebody explain to me in a nutshell how Dragon Ball audio was recorded for DB/Z/GT/Movies?
The movies are 2.0 monaural, excluding DBZ Movie 13 and DB Movie 4, which are stereo. Everything was produced with mono in mind (excluding two mentioned movies).Deli295 wrote:I've heard that if I happen to put the Movies audio (from the Dragon Boxes) in a Dolby mastering software I will get a 5.1 track, is there any truth to this?

I think a few of the movies got stereo audio on CDs.
