When someone says they don't like the Japanese version and then say Goku sounds like a girl/gramma/women/ little bitch. Okay, I get you don't like the Japanese "dub". But why say Goku sounds like a girl. What's the point of that. I feel that it really doesn't matter if Goku is voiced by a woman or if he does/doesn't sound like one. If you don't like the Japanese version, you probably wouldn't like it even if adult goku was voice by a man. You just don't like it. So why bring the "Goku sounds like a woman" comment. Seriously everytime you mention the Japanese version, someone will bring up the "I don't like it in Japanese because Goku sounds like a woman" comment.

I don't know about that. IMO, the people who hate the Japanese version probably would have liked it if they had replaced Nozawa with a man for adult Goku. It's funny how people tolerate Luffy and Naruto's Japanese voices being women, yet they absolutely hate the fact that a woman voices Goku. Probably because they think Goku is a manly badass and because he's so badass, they think he should have a deep manly voice.

Would they though. I think it doesn't matter(that much) if Goku is voiced by woman. I've heard complaints about Japanese Piccolo and Vegeta. And they're voice by men. Fans just don't like what they're not used to. Especially when its so different. In this case Nosawa's Goku sounding very high pitched. But not jus that. Theres also the music. The dialogue. The others voices like Boo, Vegeta, Freeza, etc. In the end, I think dub fans don't like it because they just don't like it.

What irks me the most is when people completely misunderstand Goku's character and believe him to be some sort of super prodigy among the Saiyan race, and that no other Saiyan is capable of his own accomplishments, because of what he accomplished. The truth is Goku is complete trash for a Saiyan, if you put any Saiyan in his shoes and gave them the same personality and resources they would end up greater than Goku did.

But, they don't because none of the Saiyans were similar to Goku in that regard, none of them had his fierce drive to succeed, none of them had his resources or mentors, and none of them were fighting geniuses of his caliber.

He was great. The entire point is that there's something different about him than any other Saiyan. He started off weaker than most members of his race, but he quickly surpassed ALL of them. You make it sound like his personality is easy to come by. It's not as simply as you imply.

I just meant that the only reason why Goku where he is, and the only reason why he is at his current strength level is because of his personality. Anyway, you're right his personality isn't something easy to come by, if that were the case than Freeza would already have been overthrown, and there would be a few SSJ3 tier Saiyans running around. I never meant to imply it was something that it was easy to come by.

Gotcha. My reply might have come off harsher than I meant it.

Yes, I believe so. And I don't see that many complaints about Furukawa and Horikawa.

I don't know. I think there's more than one reason why fans don't enjoy the sub.

Yeah, I know. The Kikuchi music. It gets bashed because it's not hardcore enough like Faulconer.

Goku is a super prodigy, both him and Vegeta. He only started weaker than the other Saiyans because he had no proper training and was sent to a planet full of weaklings. The other Saiyans had x10 gravity from the get go, were fighting aliens and I imagine training amongst themselves.

I'm not downplaying Goku's drive and the challenges he faced but he's a prodigy and it's a theme from the get go. We know Mr.Toriyama didn't write Goku as an alien originally. He wasn't rubbing his hands and thinking "people will be dumbfounded when they find out my masterful set up".

When Vegeta was insulting Goku as low-class trash, he's simply exhibiting the ignorance of the Saiyan society stratification.
It's not a coincidence that Kaio's planet's gravity is x10, the same as the Saiyans planet. Kaio points this out to Goku, highlighting this aspect together with their Saiyan fighting instincts as the source of their strength.
Mr.Toriyama put Goku in equal footing with the Saiyans and Goku came back better than all but the Prince, who himself was the greatest warrior the Saiyan Race ever produced.

1) Those cracking the whip must really like Frieza.

2) Broly receiving a new form to put him on par with a Super Saiyan Blue.

1.) Frieza being resurrected in super made me mad.

2.) The new rule that the person being revived is revived as they were before they died. Frieza was resurrected in pieces, so that means goku should have been resurrected with a hole through his chest ...

3.) The overpowering of Master Roshi in the latest epsiode is over ridiculous/bs.

4.) The retcon of how master roshi stays alive for hundreds of years. It used to.be that he drank from the fountain of youth and now they have changed that....

5.) Future trunks breifly kicking merged zamasu's ass which basically puts him above super saiyan blue level.

6.) The new rule that vegito is not a permanent fusion and that it can also wear out if they use up a majority of their energy....

The elixir of immortality was revealed to be a fabrication when Roshi died in the Piccolo Arc, it's not exactly a recent change.

Damn, how did I miss this? You sound positive so can you please show me a reference? Cause from what I can recall they don't even say elixir of immortality, I think it was the turtle that said that master roshi drank from the fountain of youth... please correct me if I am wrong, would appreciate it greatly!

I don't have any way to scan it in atm, but it's in Chapter 145 of the manga. Also, the "fountain of youth" was a dub-only inclusion, if I'm remembering correctly.

As much as I love Super, it still grinds the hell outta my gears:

1. Goku can apparently convince Dende, a child to stay away from not just his family but his entire planet, not just for a few days but pretty much forever. And he does that quite easily too. But he can't convince Tenshinhan to leave his dojo for less than an hour. Tenshinhan himself says that he'd only participate in the tournament because he needed the money to repair the village and not because Goku convinced him. What gives?

2. Muten Roshi trained for all his life, learning from Mutaito, Karin and training by himself and is able to attain a battle power of 139. But just by "training" for a couple years off-screen, he's now strong enough to fight on par with current Goku. Power levels be damned, this stuff is still pretty confusing.

I can't stand people not giving the Japanese dub, Kikuchi, or Kai dub a real chance either. I mean, I can kinda empathize because I used to agree with them, but now that I really gave it a chance the quality is undeniable. This is why I stay away from any comments on sites that aren't this one these days. I just get triggered over and over. Also, for the love of all that is good, Goku does NOT sound like a woman. That's not a woman's voice coming out of him. People apparently don't know what women sound like

I'm assume you're talking about a different dub, because the japanese dub Goku is voiced by a woman. Which is the dub that people say he sounds like an old grandma in.

And Ii don't know what Kikuchi is, but searching it up on google come sup with the Funi dub, which no one mistakes Goku's voice for a woman in.
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:
