While it is unlikely, we can't say "it's not happening" for sure. I think it is very possible that this could still be a double twist with Freeza actually not joining.

I'd still rather have Buu though.

This is what I want, I don't think it's impossible yet. With the information we have, I estimate %70 chances for Freezer and %30 for Yamcha.

Still be pissed with Buu being shafted again, but it would be funnier and feel more organic than getting Freeza.
It would also be less repetitive, and would make a good service for Yamcha's character. Freeza's previous resurrections, on the other hand, never bring anything interestin to the character.This time could be different, sure, but I personall ydon't find Freeza interesting outside the Namek saga.

I'd love if Yamcha was recruited, but I highly doubt that'll happen. Besides, if Yamcha's going to be the laughing stock I'd rather have absent from the arc; the way he was ridiculed a few episodes ago by Goku/Gohan trying to avoid telling him about the tournament and he himself "acting cool by declining the invitation and then showing up at the tournament" (which I'd say it's out of character). Being one of my favorite characters, it's one of two options: a) either he's included in the team and redeems himself to be, at least, as useful as Tenshinhan; or b) he's completly left out because he doesn't deserve to become the Dan of the cast (from Street Fighter, look it up).

Id hate it. So far I only believe Tien and 17 have realistic power gains to compete as they are the only two we didnt know much about recently.

Roshi and Krillin I certainly couldnt buy with Piccolo and Gohan as slightly believable...but Yamcha should be an instant KO.

I'd laugh because it'd be Yamcha getting the classic "be careful what you wish for" scenario.

But I think Toriyama/Toyotaro would give him some good moments. Just because Yamcha got beaten by Saibamen doesn't mean it was a bad fight.
