I think episode 91 is going to have universe 9 involved. That's like a solid 5/8. It's more than good enough. Dragon Ball is definitely not niche over here. Maybe in the UK but definitely not the U.S.Lord Beerus wrote:Dragon Ball Super is still a niche product outside of Japan. Hell, Dragon Ball as a whole is quite a niche outside of Japan, even with new content. The numbers pretty much solidify that. While DB was all but dead in JP after GT ended, in the states it pretty much exploded in popularity and resulted in the anime boom of today.

I'll just say this:
If you take the time to consideration how much money Dragon Ball has generated for Bandai in Japan compared to everywhere else in the world, as shown in the report, then, yes, Dragon Ball, while popular in countries, is still kinda niche given how much less money it's made in the rest of the world compared to Japan. That's not to say if marketed well and distributed properly, it can't turn in a decent profit in the rest of the world. Resurrection F is prime example of what happens when you decently promote and release a film in time to its intended audience. But Japan is still where Dragon Ball is where the megabucks are made and where Dragon Ball is a much bigger household name.

But look at its growth. Even if they sell something Z related, it's Super that's pushing the relevancy of everything.Glen300 wrote:Equating these numbers to only Dragon Ball Super is disingenuous since the chart says Dragon Ball merchandise. First and foremost Bandai is one company, there other companies who have the license to sell Dragon Ball Products. Not to mention, Dragon Ball just got its true revival since the early 2000s and Dragon Ball Super just came out two years ago. Toei are still handing out licenses for companies and TV networks to broadcast DBS and sell DB related Products. However, even when TV networks and companies do accquire the license. They're still unable to use them right away, due to planning and arranging everything to the lay the groundwork for the products to be successful.Lord Beerus wrote:I'll just say this:

Secondly, I understand that Dragon Ball is less popular in other countries than its home country, but that still doesn't make it a niche. It still makes a good bit of money in other countries. For example, DBZ Dokkan battle is doing extremely well, the game currently holds a top ten App Store spot in 19 different countries. Recently, it was #1 in the USA and U.K. and this goes to back what I said about Bandai being just one company. Toei animation reported last year an unprecedented $2.5 billion in retail sales, the listed top properties were DB and One Piece. In all honesty, well all know most of that money came from Dragon Ball, One Piece had little to do with it. You could just look at their past retail reports, it was nowhere near even a billion dollars, it was always in the range of $300-480 million. These sales weren't exclusive to Japan either, since this revenue came from licensed goods and 3rd parties.

Does anyone expect Goku to hold back against Gohan this weekend? I know Gohan asked him to go full power, but we know he won't. SSBKKX10 is Goku's current full power, what if Gohan could tank hits from that?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I just think that Super is subpar most of the time and the fact that it is doing exactly what the comitee wanted doesn't feel right to me. I don't care about the opinion of others, and I've certainly enjoyed a lot of moments and even full episodes in the past but it doesn't erase the fact that it leaves too much to be desired.Baggie_Saiyan wrote: Not following the logic here. I mean, good for them if they're making millions, but I just wish that the revival of the Dragon Ball franchise would have been with a banger as it flagship. Super is just okay to bad in every aspect.

There is a reason why 'raping my childhood' is a meme and a very untasteful one to boot.
Or you could say that "Why don't you like the things that I like?", right?
I don't want to see it cancelled, I don't really care. I just wish that the product they're making millions off (or partially thanks to it) would live up to it's accomplishments.

Its understandable some of the frustration and disappointment, because they feel the product could reach the level of the likes of Hunter x Hunter or JJBA(Steel Ball Run).
After the Gohan vs Goku sparring we get the last chapter of the Trunks Arc, I cant wait to see how different is the ending compared to the anime.

Then those people were set for eternal disappointment, as Dragon Ball has always been completely different from those series.perucho1990 wrote:Its understandable some of the frustration and disappointment, because they feel the product could reach the level of the likes of Hunter x Hunter or JJBA(Steel Ball Run).

I'm curious to see how Universe 9 plans to come on top. If the trio de dangers are their best fighters, then they're screwed. Wonder what plan Rou has got up his sleeve.

Bergamo is quite dangerous, it took Kaioken to put him down, as a support character would be dangerous if U9 plans to team up with U4 aka the SchemingUniverse.The_Destroyer wrote:I'm curious to see how Universe 9 plans to come on top. The guy with the Golden Freeza Avatar mightve hit the nail in thinking Basil would want a rematch with Buu but gets Frieza instead and gets tortured, it would make everyone believe U7 is evil, and also U6 because Frost looks like Frieza.

Half-ass show, in your opinion. Which is fine. I call it petty to be bitter that other people don't see it that way.
I think you seeing whatever you want.
That's true for any show in existence even classics like HxH and Jo Jo will tell you things that the series can improve on. Last I checked, nothing's perfect and nothing makes everyone happy.
