DragonBall Z - Shopping for FUNimation's 4:3 DVDs

Post by Li'l Lemmy » Sun Aug 05, 2007 10:23 pm

With the release of the new DragonBall Z Season Sets and FUNimation slowly working to phase out its prior releases of the series, it's a safe bet that the singles discs and particularly the Ultimate Uncut Special Editions are going to become more and more rare as time goes on.

Though the UUSE line remains incomplete and leaves a gaping hole in what would otherwise be a complete series collection in its original 4:3 aspect ratio, some of us may still want to grab these fullscreen versions while we can given that widescreen would seem to be our only option for the forseeable future.

This thread is hereby dedicated to any existing retail of FUNimation Region 1 fullscreen DragonBall Z and where to find these DVDs so that anyone who wants a choice can still have it for as long as possible.

A few things:

A.) Avoid mention of eBay or Amazon auctions, as it's assumed that everyone is aware of those options already. Otherwise this thread is going to become a whorehouse for auction bids.

B.) Avoid mention of the DragonBoxes or DragonBox singles, which is another universal option we're all aware of. This is not a DragonBox vs. Season Sets/Toei vs. FUNimation thread, so discussion of the Toei DVDs would be inherently counterproductive. The focus here is on FUNimation's bilingual DVD singles only, as it's these that are about to go out of print.

C.) This isn't a Fullscreen vs. Widescreen thread. We have plenty of threads to contain and facilitate that sort of debate already, so please restrict posts in this thread to helpful mention of where the fullscreen singles are in stock for reliable purchase.

All right, then? Let's see what we can find!

. . .

I'll get the ball rolling. Overstock.com has ALL discs of the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition line in stock for $15.95 in addition to the Starter Boxes for both the "red" and "blue" phases.

They also have random singles and box sets from both Z and GT, but not a complete assortment.

Any other finds?

If anybody drops by Gamestop, if they have a DBGT/Z DVD it's only $5.98. I recently picked up Volume 5 of the Blantently Excluded Episodes of GT. I refuse to call them "Lost."

http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com has a lot of stuff for low prices, and free S&H. Major win there (along with a lot of Manga, for whatever reason).

I thought Anime Corner Store would have more left as they're usually pretty good about this stuff, but all they seem to have left is The Movies. Not sure how helpful that is but thats all I've found. They still have all of the GT stuff too but FUNimation hasn't started downsizing those yet.

Great, great! Anyone who wants this stuff, grab it while you can!

Duo actually found a better deal on the UUSE's than I did, and then LeMoonwalker found one that was better still! Will the wonders never cease?

Keep looking, everybody!
