Piccolo the Master

I'll preface this with I'm a huge Piccolo fan...

I've never seen a character look more beast than this moment. Gohan power is going through the roof, electricity snapping, and then they show the master. A true warrior.

I'm happy with the power boost they gave Piccolo for this arc, but I think he needs another moment as the most powerful Z fighter, if only for a moment. He had it on Namek and when merged with Kami. He's due for another moment to shine.

We know he needs to have more moments especially fighting moments as he puts everyone else to shame with the way he fights in the series.

Be grateful that Toei doesn't have the whip on us, Piccolo fans. If we get one win in the tourny, we should take it and run. Look what Toei did to Buu, and especially Tien fans. Don't ask for too much or they'll make you learn the hard way. Be grateful for 88. If they deign to give Piccolo a good fight, we must thank them, but we must not expect it. They hate entitlement, especially from a lowly groups like us. They say Tien's current treatment is because his fans talk too much shit about Krillin. Even the Gohan fan's weren't safe for a time. Toei beat them to an inch of their lives. Those fools tried to overtake Goku's throne. They had to complain for thousands of internet years to get to their current position. Our army isn't half the size of Gohan's. Pre 88 I thought toei was going to continue to beat on us as well, but they've had mercy on us. We must not overstep. Perhaps if we remain good, we'll be blessed with a 2 parter like Krillin and 17. We can never expect to be in the same realm of existence as Toei's angels Goku and Frieza. Vegeta had to fight for an entire series just to be Goku's bitch.

Goku>Frieza>>>>Vegeta>Future Trunks>Gohan>antagonist that matter>Krillin>Bulma>17>>>>Piccolo/Roshi/18>Buu>Garbage>>>>>Tien. We could cross the line into garbage at any time. Don't trick yourselves for a moment.

Except, the last time Vegeta and Frieza were on screen together Vegeta was mopping the floor with him. In a recent episode 18 actually wins her spar with Krillin, so she's still depicted as stronger than him. 17 isn't even a debate, he's the one person in the recruitment arc that Gokuu seemed uncertain that he could beat. Buu is still implied to be one of their strongest fighters, they just (unfortunately) keep putting him to sleep. And are you complaining about Bulma having a larger role in Super? Why? Do you have something against the character? Honestly, Piccolo has gotten some pretty sweet treatment in this arc, more than he's received since the Cell Arc (he was made a joke of in the Buu Saga, you know it).

I'm excited for more Piccolo and Gohan teamwork. The two of them working together can lead to very cool stuff.
On hiatus.

I'm not saying anyone is weak. I also don't hate anyone for getting more attention than Piccolo. I'm just ranking them in terms of how much love they get in the series as of yet. Krillin and Bulma are ahead of 17 for now. Krillin got 3 episodes and 17 has 2. I agree that Piccolo is doing good this arc. Episode 88 is the best he has been in super. I like buu arc Piccolo btw.

At least Piccolo isn't getting a, "my boy is being screwed" moment...at least not yet anyway.

Piccolo's entire screentime in Super has been this. He's just now not getting fucked over too bad.

I think since Master Piccolo has hitched his wagon to rising star Gohan, he will get a chance to do some cool things in the ToP. Without Gohan though, his onscreen time would've been trash like it was when he got screwed against Frost. I hated when Piccolo lost like that to a weakling like Frost
"Gohan, let it go. It is not a sin to fight for the right cause. There are those who words alone will not reach. Cell is such a being. I know how you feel Gohan, you are gentle, you do not like to hurt. I know because I too have learned these feelings. But it is because you cherish life that you must protect it. Please drop your restraints. Protect the life I once loved. You have the strength, my scanners sensed it..." -Android 16

The focus of this arc is Gohan, but I feel Piccolo's role showcased the respect Goku has for his ability as a warrior. Plus it offered a good way to display Piccolo's power (or as I believe a taste of his overall power) against a foe who should have clearly outmatched him in terms of power. In 88, he accomplished his goal of unleashing Gohan's true power, while giving him a better insight into his weaknesses. At the same time, he easily kept up with a SSJ2 Gohan, and from what we see onscreen (and during the hours of training offscreen) he kept up with Mystic Gohan enough to act as a sufficient sparing partner.

I agree with the Frost fight. I feel he wanted to prove Goku wrong by basically telling Piccolo to go out as fodder to weaken Frost enough for Vegeta. He knew he had enough strength, and with such a unique strategy could win the match showing everyone he isn't the weakling they thought he was before the match. He's leagues above that level now though.

As a fellow Piccolo fan though, skip to the scene Piccolo takes off his weighted clothes to start fighting seriously. Gohan goes insane transforming into SSJ2, and they show Piccolo in the image above with the blue lightning flashing around him. His stance, bulk, and disciplined mind are all on display. For some reason, I think it's one of my favorite Piccolo scenes, despite being so short.
