Maybe, maybe not. The successor would likely be selected based on his/her ability to imitate Nozawa's roles very closely so it's not like they would suddenly have Nappa's actor provide lines for Goku and Toriyama would be completly off put. In the end we are talking about people who all work in entertainment business, they do realize 'show must go on'. Respect and ackowledgement is one thing, killing an internationally popular series in this day and age because of an actor passing is another. I could see a break, maybe even a longer one - few years but ultimately the role would get recasted with carefully selected successor which may have already happened with Nozawa and Toriyama's approval for all we know.Ki Breaker wrote:I might be misremembering something, but didn't toriyama state when he writes goku he envisions her?
Dragonball might go on but I cannot see him continuing if she stops

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
If Nozawa stops or passes away before Super ends I can't see it stopping all of a sudden, but they (mostly Toriyama) will probably rush it to the end. So fillers at that point, if there will still be (they probably would if they don't want to end the serie looking like shit) will most likely be about characters who aren't from Goku's family.

Even if Nozawa dies, I'm pretty sure they will find someone to voice Goku as great as she did, so no point in saying that if she dies the franchise dies along with it

Yeah if she dies they could just replace her and keep going. There'd be no reason to end a multi hundred million dollar franchise just for that. Maybe they could get a man to voice Goku finally, as much as I've gotten used to it, it still sounds very weird hearing Grandma Goku.

If Dragonball continues to make money, then they will find SOME way to keep it going. Probably with spin offs or something like that. Is that not the entire point of the Dragon room?

Damn, I wonder how much of that is Dokkan Battle. It gets #1 Grossing on the app store every-time a good card comes out.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Either Nozawa and/or Toei have a replacement already trained and waiting, or Shueisha will go full on Dragon Ball Heroes like they wanted to and they'll have Beat and Note staring in a replacement show.
On hiatus.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Good luck with that Shueisha, because financially Heroes did little-to-nothing for either Toei or BandaiChuquita wrote:Either Nozawa and/or Toei have a replacement already trained and waiting, or Shueisha will go full on Dragon Ball Heroes like they wanted to and they'll have Beat and Note staring in a replacement show.

There's gotta be someone else who can play Goku. I just don't see how a multi-million dollar franchise dies with the voice actor like that.
I mean if Toriyama dies maybe... but there's like Toyataro I guess.

Nozawa had (has?) her own voice acting studio; I'd be surprised if she hasn't trained a successor from among her students.

If Superman can keep on going for more than 20 years after their original authors passing then I don't see any reason why Dragon Ball can't do the same once Toriyama and Nozawa leave this world.Yomi wrote:There's gotta be someone else who can play Goku. Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Because no one could give Dragonball it's to me feel besides toriyama till date..Neo-Makaiōshin wrote:If Superman can keep on going for more than 20 years after their original authors passing then I don't see any reason why Dragon Ball can't do the same once Toriyama and Nozawa leave this world.Yomi wrote:There's gotta be someone else who can play Goku. Nozawa I understand, but toriyama?
Yeah no, Dragonball can go on as long as it wants after toriyama goes but it's pretty much its going to be another GT..
Anyone is free to disagree but I am certain about this

I feel like the moment Toriyama's gone that Dragon Ball's going to become a Brolli, Bardock, new ssj forms everywhere free for all. Like he's the only one keeping the more unchecked aspects of the videogames from flooding into the main series.
On hiatus.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I can see Dragon Ball going well without Toriyama, he is not flawless as many pretend him to be. Just remember that Battle Of Gods was a great movie which script was not full Toriyama while Ressurection Of F was and it was pretty bad. Toriyama nowadays is not a good storyteller he need people to put his work in check to produce good stuff even by the time he was working in the manga.
My biggest gripe is with Toyotaro, I don't think he alone can handle Dragon Ball serialization by himself, he's not a good storyteller either, but a good artist, he also would need people to help him with the work, people that understand what DB is.

Well, with Toriyama gone we wouldn't get Freeza over and over besides a minor appearances here and there.

Ironically enough this is what's happening right now.Chuquita wrote:I feel like the moment Toriyama's gone that Dragon Ball's going to become a Brolli, Bardock, new ssj forms everywhere free for all. True, but at least Toriyama's keeping the Brolli virus of sorts confined to "these two girls might as well be daughters of Brolli" which imo is at least better than that new 4D attraction with "Brolli god" in it.precita wrote:Ironically enough this is what's happening right now.Chuquita wrote:I feel like the moment Toriyama's gone that Dragon Ball's going to become a Brolli, Bardock, new ssj forms everywhere free for all. As tired as I am of Freeza, I'll pick him over Brolli because at least Freeza's witty.

Oh it doesn't bother me. I'm just trying to (forewarn?) explain that things could be worse over at Super once Toriyama's gone.
