People need to stop whining about the "Super Saiyan Bargain Sale"

Because its NOT a Bargain sale.
Logic clearly indicates that even if Rage is important for unlocking the SSj for the first time, its not an absolute way to do it.

Lets look at the progression of Super Saiyan Transformations:

• SSj Goku: Obvious rage over Krillin's death
• SSj Future Trunks: Mixture of Grief,Desperation and Rage over Future Gohan's death
• SSj Vegeta: Desperation and Rage to reach the form to compete and beat Goku
• SSj Gohan: Desperation to survive Goku's KHH, No rage indicated.
• SSj2 Gohan: Pure Rage
• SSj2 Goku and Vegeta:No rage indicated, reached through intense training alone
• SSj Goten and Trunks: No rage. Transformation almost accidental increase in power
• SSj3 Gotenks: Only training and level of power.
• SSj Cabba: Rage induced by Vegeta
• SSj2 Future Trunks: Pure Training with Z Sword. No rage
• SSj and SSj2 Caulifla: Pure concentration of power

You see, most transformations were NOT unlocked by rage as the series progressed. Rage isnt absolute.

But there is another reason which is overlooked: Pre SSj power Level.

Notice something? EVERYONE who attained the SSj form after Goku was MUCH stronger than Namek Goku was. Even Goten and Trunks, and Goten didnt even know how to fly.

Base Cabba has strong enough to take the fight to Post SSB Base Vegeta. Which means, Pre SSj Cabba was at least as strong as Super Perfect Cell [and thats greatly reducing the lower limit, personally i believe he was as strong as Fat Buu]. Caulifla also has the potential, as shown. These U6 saiyans are the perfect example as to why after you reach a minimum power level, SSJ transformation is easy enough if you know how to get it or what it is. Remember, U6 saiyans didnt even leave Planet Sadal. They may never have had a "Legendary Super Saiyan" in their recorded history to go by.
Look at Gohan, he unlocked SSj in desperation to block SSj Goku's KHH. And arguably he was much stronger than Post Namek base Goku.

So, IMO, the "Legendary" SSj Transformation isnt that special. Its that U7 saiyans werent strong enough to get it earlier and U6 saiyans didnt even know about it. So stop whining when Caulifla gets SSj2 in the net episode. SHhe is strong enough to achieve it easily.

Maybe they showed Caulifla getting the transformation easily because Kale will be achieving the real deal, the Legendary SSJ transformation.

I'm pretty sure Future Trunks transformed into Super Saiyan 2 for the first time during his battle against Dabura in the manga, after seeing Kaioshin of East getting his ass beaten or something like that.

Also, where's Super Saiyan Bardock? If I remember correctly, Future Gohan says he transformed after seeing Piccolo and the others being defeated.

The History Of Trunks TV special is based off of a chapter in the manga. And in said chapter, we see Future Trunks is already a SSJ and is sparring with Base Future Gohan.

But surely someone else witnessed the Legendary Super Saiyan transforming into Super Saiyan, otherwise there wouldn't be a legend to be told. But if that were the case, others would transform and the legend wouldn't exist.

Fair point, but that could also be explained by the Saiyans not being the ones to witness the first transformation, rather hearing about it from witnesses from other races. Kind of like how Bardock transformed and Chilled spoke of the Super Saiyan before his death. I'm not trying to claim that as canon, but something similar could easily have happened.

Eh, calm down. Super Saiyan is just an exploitation of saiyan biology (with a bit of Chakra understanding thrown in IMHO.)

Even Broly can do standard Super Saiyan. That being said, the REAL Super Saiyan, is the 1,000 year Saiyan. Be that Broly or someone else in U7. I firmly believe it to be Kale in U6.

But yeah, it's just a manipulation of energy in combination with saiyan biology (and an understanding of chakra points. Seriously, read my topic on this. Might explain some of this!)
