Super Animation Catalogue 2.0
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90
This clears up that King Ryu is definitely not the main writer for Super. I think it's pretty safe to say Tomioka is the head writer atm. King ryu won't appear as often but it's okay. Toshio is doing a good job(of course only the things in his control).

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90
More of a battle power, correct characterization, and cohesion kind of a guy. I know what episodes he did, I checked the staff list for mostly all the Super episodes a few days ago and earlier today. Even though it's true they don't have as much creative freedom, their still responsible for writing out the scenarios/events (not to sure) that take place Episode to episode and I definitely know their responsibile for the characterization. I will be generous and say Super has two out of the four of the script writers are actually good. King Ryu and Tomioka. By the way, proper power scaling is a necessity in a shounen manga or anime.Saikyo no Senshi wrote:You're a battle power guy, aren't you? For your information King Ryu scripted #84. Yeah, the one which had battle power fans complaining "how the hell did Kuririn push back SSB Gokuu's Kamehameha?!"SaiyanGod117 wrote:Welp there goes Super's only good writer.
Point is scriptwriters don't have much creative control. If Nagamine and Nakamura, the SDs want something, they'll have to do it. Giving too much emphasis to scriptwriters is not being able to understand how the process works.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90
Sorry, I don't want to contribute to the off-topic (the leyend says this used to be an animation topic a couple of pages ago), but that "proper power scaling" comment made me laugh. Nah, that conversation is a waste of time. I don't know exactly when it became a thing, but since the moment we started to have that, DB fandom went downhills and now we have people discussing numbers and multipliers instead of storytelling. I understand that you need some sort of scale to measure who's stronger than the others, but c'mon, the "power scaling" debate reached an extent that became weird and obnoxious.SaiyanGod117 wrote: By the way, proper power scaling is a necessity in a shounen manga or anime.

Sorry about that guys. So uh, fun fact, Shida also storyboarded episode 11, which might explain why we got cool perspective shots like this.

[/spoiler]Probably a little late to the party with this observation, just thought it was interesting. It also goes to show that Shida is a really detailed storyboard artist.

Uhh, Ajay already did that a while a go, he also uploaded pictures like you do. (Was it Ajay?)
Shida was probably going to animate some of the BoG arc, but he ended up seeing the schedule and just roll with the storyboard instead. Still, it's good when he produces storyboards.
I'm bad at English and still learning. If there's anything wrong, please correct me.

I thought so, it was just something that I personally found interesting. The fact that it isn't stated as much as Shida's participation in episode 7 is something that I find a little surprising.Gashif Aldi wrote:JazzMazz wrote:

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90
I have a question regarding super's schedule.
Could, incorporating more CG in the series improve the schedule? Blasts, vehicles, backgrounds, explosions. Is this feasible? Could they introduce some regular CG animators, who would work on minor stuff?
Would that idea reduce the workload? Fighting time issues by introducing more animators while trying different styles on db?
I know we had some few instances here and there but nothing permanent.

I think some more cgi could work wonders, especially for the less detailed characters. I remember loving the cgi in the Rock Lee vs Garaa fight in Naruto. I don't know how time consuming that stuff is thoughMazingerdestro wrote:I have a question regarding super's schedule.

Doing Good CGI is very time consuming. However doing little things here and there saves time.

As much as I still think CG character need years to be perfected, background animation and explosions are very pretty when they are designed with CG. Maybe draw some kamehamehas while adding extra effects could make the scenes look better. Most mecha shows that use CG for blasts are gorgeous. Let's have some build fighter style blasts in db. This show needs to find its 2017 identitySodhi wrote:Doing Good CGI is very time consuming. However doing little things here and there saves time.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90
So before we potentially find out who's on 94 with the preview image in a few days and potentially get an episode title for 94 and maybe even 95 (sometimes we randomly get a title or two at the end of a month) does anyone want to give their predictions on supervisors for the next batch of episodes(94-97)?
With the exception of Kitano they've kept their main/in-house supervisors separate from each other this arc, so I'm just going to go off of the assumption that they'll continue to do that. I'll also only be guessing the main/in-house supervisors, not the outsource ones.
I'm fairly confident that the tournament will start on 95, but King Ryu being the one writing that episode gives me a bit of doubt, so I'm going to cheat and do 2 predictions
If 95 is the start of the tournament;
94 - Itai
95 - Tate
96 - Manabe
97 - Nashizawa
If 96 is the start of the tournament;
94 - Itai
95 - Nashizawa
96 - Tate
97 - Manabe
Thinking about it I could totally see Manabe and Tate switching spots on both of these as well, due to Tate's work in 91.

To me:
94: Itai
95: Tate & Nashizawa
96: Manabe & Nii
97: Shimanuki
98: Yashima
99: Kitano & Ishikawa
100: Ono
That sounds really bad but who knows? Maybe they'll hire more animation supervisors... at least, I hope!

96 - Masahiro Shimanuki / Hideki Yamazaki (SB - Yuta Murano)
97 - Naoki Tate / Yui Kinoshita (SB - Kiyosato Yamamoto)
98 - Yoshitaka Yashima (SB - Kazuya Karasawa)

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 90
Like I said, the only in-house supervisor they've paired with other in-house supervisors is Kitano. It's totally possible they'll change that in the tournament, but I feel like they're doing it for a specific reason, to make sure their in-house supervisors get more time. I think Manabe, like Tate, will continue to get 8+ weeks for his episodes going forward, so I don't see him showing up before 95.
It will be interesting to see if/when Yamazaki shows up again and if he'll just be an animator or be a supervisor. He said he hopes he gets requested to work on the show again, so it's probably very likely he shows up again before episode 100. Hopefully he becomes a regular.

Also I was looking for another interesting image but in this case someone took a shot of Cabba vs. Vegeta and they kinda tried to made it look like "the old dbz style" but it's not just a recoloring of the shot; they redrew some things. Anyways, I want you to look at it and know your opinions about it

Edit: I definitely like more Vegeta's hair in the image of below.

This is acceptable compared to most but I still hate that..."colored in with washable marker" effect if you feel me. Totally agree with liking Vegeta's hair more.neolux wrote:Also I was looking for another interesting image but in this case someone took a shot of Cabba vs. Vegeta and they kinda tried to made it look like "the old dbz style" but it's not just a recoloring of the shot; they redrew some things.
