They will probably show off all the new characters when the Tournament starts. It's better to save the best for last.Zamasu55 wrote:Anyway, according to the leaks the Tournament will start on episode 97.
So they've got three episodes to show ALL the fighters. Do you think that's possible? I don't.
So far in 17 episodes they've only shown:
One fighter from U2.
Four fighters from U3 (Nigrisshi, Narirama plus the other two Nigrisshi was talking about).
Two fighters from U4 (Damon and Ganosu).
Two new fighters from U6 (Kale and Caulifla).
Three fighters from U9 (Basil, Lavenda and Bergamo).
One figher from U10 (Murichim).
Four fighters from U11 (Jiren, Toppo, Dyspo and Kahseral).
Only 17 new characters in 17 episodes.
I don't know what black comedy is. Was that the intent of the DBZ writers back in 1989-1990?HeroR wrote:Because it was really pathetic. It was still played for comedy, in a subtle way. Plus, we'd seen Recoome "deconstructed" as the battle was going on. Look at him before and after battle.Recoome got killed when he wasn't even conscious and before then he wrecked everyone.

Now we can carry on with out lives as usual until we go into another panic from another set of initial episode titles and staff listing leaks.
You don't know why people like an entertaining character who has been around from the start and has some entertaining fights even though he loses?Cursemark505 wrote:
The meme will never die since it's been with him since the start. Yamcha has jobbed in every single major fight that he has ever been in besides the one in Baba's tournament where he would have lost that one as well without outside interference.
I seriously don't understand why people like his character

Yamcha's is seen as a joke because of weak raditz was. He was so weak they could clone and unlike everyone else he didn't go down fighting.Super_Divine_Genki wrote:I don't know what black comedy is. Yamucha took Kuririn's spot because of the situation with him potentially getting killed (for the second time). Yamucha made an honorable move for the well-being of his friend, and he technically defeated that Saibaman. That was the first time that the Z-senshi had experienced a surprise kamikaze attack... I think... ?

Anyway, I was just curious about why the meme caught hot. I still don't get it.
I'm sure summaries will come out later. Just not as soon as you hope.kinisking wrote:Are we still getting summaries or is this it ?

He usually lose to the main villain or at least the dragon, not the fodder like Yamcha.precita wrote:You don't know why people like an entertaining character who has been around from the start and has some entertaining fights even though he loses?Cursemark505 wrote:

Piccolo loses every fight after Radditz too (and even then he needed Goku to hold him back), so what difference does it make? None of the fighters have good track records in DBZ.

You oddly sound like you have no idea how that scene played out in the anime/manga. Nothing about it was treated as "funny," it was treated as a shocking drama moment. It was also the first wake up call to the main characters that they were seriously outclassed for the Saiyans and set up the massacre of all of them that would follow.HeroR wrote:

Yamcha dying to a weak Saibaman before he does anything useful is funny. It really doesn't matter why he fought the Saiberman, he still died to a mook that Krillin, the resident butt monkey, killed five of with one energy blast. And he may have defeated the Saibaman, but he dropped his guard and got killed. The same happened to Goku when he got laser by Sorbet, which is also considered humorous
Just because something is played for drama, doesn't mean it can't be funny, hence black comedy. Or if you want to used a Tv trope, it's called Narm: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Narmprecita wrote:

Read my other post above, what did the other main characters do when Yamcha died? They went ballistic and showed horror and disgust. They didn't all stand around smiling. This isn't neogaf, HeroR, people here actually know about Dragonball.

Black comedy is something entirely different

When I was a kid and saw the death for the first time, I didn't think it was funny. In fact Yamcha's death pose did not become a meme until like 15 years after that episode aired. Had Yamcha been the only character who died, and Tenshihan and Piccolo at least survived long enough for Goku to show up, it would have been a different story. And as I said, what did you think Toriyama's intentions were? He obviously wrote in a first early death to raise the stakes for that arc and show what a serious threat the Saiyans were and set the mood for the rest of the fight.HeroR wrote:Just because something is played for drama, doesn't mean it can't be funny, hence black comedy. It was a pathetic death that was played for drama, but came out as humorous to a lot of people. How the character react, doesn't matter.
